  1. Woo! Thankyou very much! I'm glad you liked my stage and can't wait to play freedom planet! :D

    I'm out of town at the moment so I couldn't watch the stream unfortunately! :( but this was certainly a pleasent suprise! :)

    And well done to everyone who participated! I thought all the ideas were awesome! :)

    I couldn't watch the stream because of timezones, let's hope that someone recorded it because I'd like to hear what everyone thought about the levels/special stages.

  2. Here is my entry:

    I probably won't have time to create any screenshots but here is the idea:

     

    The song sounds a bit like a underwater stage to me, so I thought about making a stage which has underwater elements in it, but it's not a full underwater stage, so how would this look like ?

     

    The floor would have a hydrocity like brick tileset in a grey color, the underwater parts of the stage have background walls with darker colored walls. The stage would have chinese architecture like buildings on the normal path. The level is at sunset.

     

    The stage would have 3 different paths, you can switch from one path to the other on many points of the stage.

     

    The normal path would be above the water and you would see a lot of the buildings, there are some pits, if you fall down you go to the bottom part, but there are hidden springs inside wood crates, sonic can walk past them but you can jump on them to break them(like the sonic 3 rocks in angel island), then you can use the springs to go up to the top path.

     

    The top path would be above the buildings on the roof of them, a lot of them would have slopes, so you could roll and get to high speeds easy here, but you would need to be very careful because there are a lot of ways to fall down.

     

    The bottom path is underwater, there are springs to go up if you want to but there are a lot of hidden rewards underwater.

     

    Enemies

    The stage would have 3 types of the chopper badnik.

     

    One of them works like in sonic 1 and jumps but you can get hit if you jump on top of it because it has spiky teeth. You can jump to it from the side without any trouble or use the instashield. You would find this badnik a lot in the middle/normal path.

     

    One swims around without doing much, nothing special. Found in the bottom path.

     

    One swims but starts to chase you if it sees you. You can't directly jump into it, spiky teeth are spiky so you would need to move around it or use the instashield. Found in the bottom path.

     

    The level would end with all 3 paths connecting back to one, the water path goes up with a little slope, the top path launches you to a lot of rings and the middle part continues.

     

    Ok, so I had a little bit time to make a small tileset for the bricks part:

    It's a bit rushed and not complete but I hope that this is ok ?

     

    I remember that you said that it needs to fit sun skip, what do you mean with that ? Does it need to have a set stage Theme ?

  3. Ok, here is my special stage idea:

    I'm using sonic 1 as a example here, you can enter the special stages the same way as in sonic 1, but this happens:

    Sonic gets warped to the "chaos zone", a zone that is created by the chaos emeralds. Each Zone from Sonic 1 would have a chaos zone version of it, this is the one for green hill, which would be the easiest.

    As you can see a lot of strange things are going on here, parts of the stage are floating in the air and rotating and the background looks like a sphere. The Chaos Emeralds aren't called Chaos Emeralds for no reason, they have the power to create this.

    Sometimes you need to wait for the objects to rotate right, like this slope for example, so that you can continue the stage....

    But there are also objects that move from the background to the foreground, you can only stay on them when they are in the middle, this platform is still in the background so you would need to wait a little bit for it to come more to the foreground.

    The stages have a time limit so you shouldn't wait too long or else you get warped back without the chaos emerald. If you fall of the stage you get warped(with that unused sonic 1 animation) back to the normal levels.

    Later levels have traps and enemies, green hill would have spikes, marble lava, spring yard had the spinning spike balls and scrap brain had a lot of traps. You don't get warped back if you hit a trap but you can't control sonic for 2 seconds after you get hit, so you need to be careful to not get hit.

This engine is a good example on what's possible with blitz sonic, it does have little flaws, but most of the small things that I didn't like are because I'm used to the other Blitz Sonic engines. Nibroc did a epic job on the models, didn't think that we would see so many old characters playable in a game again.

    The new graphical effects surprised me, didn't think that something like this would be added, very nice(it limits custom characters by a bit, but sonic world wasn't made for custom stuff anyways), the only thing that I didn't like about the new graphical improvements is the blurr/special effect in the skybox, there is no way to turn it off but that's probably a bug.

     

    The character moves are good for the most part, I liked the new added moves, some moves(omega hover) could be a bit better and I'm hoping that Fang and Bean get new extra moves soon(I already got ideas for that).

     

    Some of the stages/missions won't work with some characters but that happens because the stages were built for Blitz Sonic Heroes, where you always had a fly/power/speed character, this isn't a big problem because this game will get more stages in future updates, which are made for every character. Not sure why you removed Love Garden, it was one of the stages that worked well for almost any character if not all.

     

    The stage missions could need a bit more help, thought that I had to explore the stages and collect some things to get a good highscore for the time mission, but it looks like you have to get to the goal as fast as possible and speedrun the game to get a good rank on that, while you have to explore on normal missions, a bit strange and I think a different ranking system where you can get a good rank by speedrunning or exploring.

    The missions are ok and work well, exept for some small things(red ring and gold enemy/all enemy missions might have little problems on some stage), the only mission that I didn't like is the ring mission, get hit once and you are back at 0% complete or even need to completely redo it, it can be very easy to get hit in this engine, so maybe the mission should be changed so that the ring counter goes down but not back up.

     

    If you haven't played Sonic World yet, go play it NOW, it's a great 3d sonic game.

  5. Hi everyone I'm r543(I know most creative username ever but I have no better one for now), also known as r543Blitzsonic on youtube(r543 was too small and I was working on Blitzsonic stuff back when I made the account) but I rarely upload anything there.

     

    I'm a sonic fan and the first sonic game that I ever played was sonic on angel island, that old flash game which is on the Sonic United Arcade :P

     

    I'm sometimes doing Blitz Sonic stuff, you might know Blitz Sonic, the 3d sonic engine that was made in blitz 3d. I'm sometimes working on my own edit and I know a lot of stuff on how stages/objects work and how to create custom models and animations.

     

    Sometimes I rip sonic models from games, if possible even with the animations:

    Brawlsonic with animations, almost complete and fixed but I don't like to use the model a lot because how the rig works.

     

    I create custom sprites and animations:

    and work on other stuff, which I probably forgot to put here.

     

    I remember seeing this forum some years ago, thought that it would be a nice place and I didn't know that SAGE was here. I remember seeing some stuff about SAGE but I never really watched it too much, so I thought that I would watch it now.
