We are on the look out for Beta Testers.
Recently, development has been going well, but our team is biased towards our own game (naturally). So in order to help make this game the best it can be, we are looking for a team of 5 beta testers.
We are looking for people who can give constructive feedback without just giving a 2 sentence long piece of feedback that helps no-one. One point that was raised at SAGE was level design. But people just said "you need to work on level design" in no way were we told what needed changing (apart from maybe 1 exception).
We currently have 1 act we are considering finished (missing rings and badniks) but we want opinion on the level design more than anything. So if you are interested, either PM me, or reply below (maybe with some past experience). This IS NOT first come first serve.
Thanks

I must say, that was very interesting. Its made me look over some of the level design in TBB to be honest

If you are not busy, It would be great if you could do a little something for our project. Only if you are bored or something .
The project is Sonic: The Blue Blur
Just putting that out there
Cheers

At some point, yes. We are making Sonic's story first, and then building it up
-
Sorry, This is a triple post, but just go check the OP and tell me what you think, especially about the screenshot for the first zone

I am going to say i disagree. I believe that a developers first game should be how the developer wants it... I always say this to myself... don't do it for the masses, do it for yourself. Sure, take advice and stuff, but don't completely change everything because some people don't like it. It doesn't need to be professional. Is plom a professional game developer... i don't think so... I say this about spark, Lake was making it the way he was making it, and sage came around and all of a sudden, he is questioning if he should make the game... People shouldnt make new developer feel like this. Give them pointers by all means, but not everyone is an artist, musician, level designer... so if its a 1 or 2 man project, dont expect everything to be covered. Im going to use my game as an example...
I am learning to code in CF2.5 so I hope to be a programmer. In order to teach myself (and have Mr.PotatoBadger spend hours on skype with me) I am making a sonic fangame.
Now I got lucky, I have a talented team on board, but that was because I was willing to let newer people to the SU forums, help me out. But if I did do this solo, there would be nothing original at all, crappy level design and poor gimmicks and stuff.
What I am trying to say is cut plom some slack, and realize how he is pouring his heart and soul into this game, as is Lake with Spark... trouble is, games like Freedom Planet set the bar extremely high for indie platformers nowadays
P.S I like the style, its different from most other platforms we see now... Keep up the good work, cant wait for the next demo

what... like coding and stuff?

The best part of 2006 is how it retcons itself out of existence in the end.
Its like it knew it was going to be bad, so gives the fans what they wanted... for it to never exist

Lava reef anyone?
I just love that level, coming up to the climax and how long it is (especially if you haven't played it before). I remember the first time I reached the boss, I didn't know about the conveniently placed fire shield and it was a pain lol

I might be up for doing something along the lines of fangames or 2d officials... IDK what else though lol
-
looking at spark, overture and freedom planet, I am beginning to think there are no limitations lol
-
Thankyou so much for offering, I will see if we need any of those things...
Edit: Yes, we could use some character sprites if you are still interested...
We are still looking for someone for help with MMF2/CF2.5
-
This SAGE has shown me that I need help. I have a really awesome team already who have done amazing work, from level design, to music and sprites... but I am really struggling to keep up with them on the actual building part...
I need someone who is experienced in MMF2/CF2.5 to help laying down the already designed levels and making tweaks where they believe necessary. I also need this person to be able to do some of the "under the hood" work with the engine... e.g coding badniks, gimmicks and bosses with me.
I really want this to become a decent fan game... And i don't mean BtS/ Overture standards... just a game that people can enjoy when they have a minute or two lol
Anyway, thanks in advance
-
dont worry, they will be
-
I personally do it for the interest I have in creating games and Sonic in general...
I obviously cant sell my game, so that's the money out of the window and secondly, I dont think I want the fame that came with games like BtS and overture, I am just making my game for enjoyment of myself and my team. If they are happy, I am happy...
And also, It takes time for a game to start becoming popular... firstly people have to begin noticing them... secondly they need to try them, then maybe will let some friends know about this cool game they just played and as that spreads, you find your game becoming more popular... (from experience)
Just my two cents...

1) Yes i know... a Proof of Concept demo really doesnt mean that anything you see is going to be in it
2) Badniks have not been added yet, along with rings, power-ups and scenery
3) I can count alternate routes at the beginning, and there are a few hidden alternate paths, you have got to jump at the most bizarre moments to find them...
4) This is one of the first levels... you would be complaining if it was too hard
5) And dont worry... the level design gets better from the concepts
And I hope you had a nice vacation (Im assuming it was a vacation)
