The Legend of Korra finally ended and I'm very satisfied with the ending...WHAT A SHOCK IT WAS! I won't spoil it but the last two episodes were epic so Avatar fans should watch it and enjoy every bit of moment there...

Honestly I think it was a genuinely satisfying love story.

Eh, I thought it kind of came out of nowhere and felt like pandering to a fan preferred pairing. Slightly contrived too considering how much the first two seasons were about the Korra Mako Asami love triangle. I guess they just decided to ditch the hypotenuse and the remaining two legs of the triangle scissored off into the sunset. Plus there was a huge hide your lesbians thing going on there. "Let's go on vacation... you know the kind I mean!"

I'm not going to argue with your interpretations, but the subtext in books 3 and 4 was there.
