Been a time since I've enjoyed a Sonic fan game this good. Excellent graphics, music and level design.
Successful SAGE off this alone, I reckon, but I'm definitely going to check the rest out.

If anything, I think the "foreign" element makes it all the more appealing. Not that there's anything wrong with Genesis *coughmegadrivecough* Sonic graphics.

I get an error when I complete the first act. ;_;

Almost perfect. My only problems were the constant jump that I see in many a Game Maker game (i.e. Hold jump button and you jump when you hit the ground) and those bloody buzz bombers! Get away from me!
Other than that, this is most excellent gamage, especially the bosses, which j'adore. The Eggman boss is genius and Nack's a git.

Different, but enjoyably so, until it started acting up at the end of the first act. I'm sure that's somehow my fault, but still...

Like the look of it, as has been pointed out, too much zonage despite your 4-in-1 stance.
Like the idea of the boss being fought in a special zone-esque manner. Just hope that there'll also be regular ones.

Call me nuts, but I actually enjoyed this. I never played the first version, so whether the update has greatly improved it or the negative comments are from meanies I do not know.
Give it backgrounds and proper platforms and the like (Woolies instead of Goombas and Troopas for instance) and I'll play the full game easily. Good jorb!
Edit: Dang, forgot to mention. It's worth the download just for the Bubsy 3D death scenes. Heck, this game is already better than Bubsy F!"£ing 3D. Ewww.....

Well, level design aside, a bit, this looks to be good stuff.
Heck, if it's got good bosses, like you've shown with the first one, it's a winner in my book.
