Well here's a new release bare in midn the ONLY CHANGES are some fixes to ram usage. it still uses a fair bit but I got it down from 490/500ish to around 230 to 250ish in ram usage, please tell me if this runs any better now on anyone's pc. Also you can jump levels by entering debug mode via hitting the "home" key and pressing 0-6 on the numpad, hit end to exit debug. http://www.megaupload.com/?d=M21XFX9Z
  5. You'll all be happy to know I fixed the ram leak problem. Well enough I hope, it used to use about 420 to 450 megs of ram, pretty much mooting chances of playing the game with a pc that has less than 512 ram. Now it runs around 250 to 290...I'm still running through the code to see if I can't find anymore resource whoring problems. And now that I've calmed down a bit I'm not canning the game, however slingerland your post was just down right mean, hurtful and way to harsh. Anyone can see my game isn't anywhere near perfect, and it certainly doesn't meet up with today's fan gaming high standards, with that being said even if it did lock up your pc, and have a horrible load time, all and all screaming and hollering at it's creater whomever it maybe (talking in-general here) is completely uncalled for. Even if the game wreaks of n00bish mistakes and errors abound, not everyone has the level of skill with programming as you or damizean or whomever you wanna reference, and blowing up on them is a good way to have even more people leave these forums. This isn't the first hostile situation to boil out of the pot here on the forums, and some people have already left becuase they get tired of getting the "OMGWTFBBQ YOURDEHN00B)RZHAHAHAIRTEHL337" treatment. You need to learn to control your rage man, use some tact. If you don't want to point out ways to fix the problems thats fine, no big deal the problem will eventualy meet a solution on it's own with some effort and elbow greese. And if your post was harsh becuase that sign of you in the game was offencive I already mentioned before it isn't making fun of you but the game's development, it's making fun of itself and I did say if it offends you then just ask and I'd remove it.. Wether you want to beleive it or not I look up to people like you slingerland and damizean and AeroGP ect. you guys can do things with code I can't even fathom half of. And to say that this game hasn't improved at all is not only dissing me but anyone that has ever helped me with it, commented on it, critisized it or even looked at it, these forums over the past year have been an immense influence on this game. if it weren't for the members here my game would be a SHIT LOAD worse then it is now. Thanks to AeroGP I learned about object deactivation, which helped free up lots of resources in the game and make it run more smoothly, Real0505 and larkSS commenting on my level design and helping me make levels with more gimmics, the loads of people pointing out so many glitches I lost count that I've tried to fix the majority of(still along list yet). These forums helped me input wall jumping, how to reset stages with out loosing the positions and data held by enemies and secret tokens and rings ect. Improve my level design, some have even helped me rewrite the dialogue of the characters to make them sound more like their sonic team counterparts. And the list of improvements that continually get forgotten about goes on and on. Theres a long ways to go yet and I'm perfectly aware of that. But still. just plain uncalled for. That's all I have to say. I'd prefer to carry on from here without a flame war or arguement and just agree to let it go. As for the game, Again I state I have managed to fix a large amout of the ram leaks and I'm still looking to see if I can find any more. I'll upload another version when I feel there enough new content and fixes to warrent it until then if anyone can get the current version to run, you can level jump by hitting the HOME key to ender debug mode(with in the game) and pressing 0 - 6 on the numpad to skip levels, and hit the END key to exit debug mode. if you should find any more glitches please let me know so I can adress them for the next release.
  6. I give up. I just give up. Since 2002 I've been at this game, I cant for the life of me figure out what it's problem is, I'm tired of trying to make it work, I'm tired of hearing how it' doesnt run like sonic 2 or 3, I'm tired of fighting about it. I'm tired of hearing about tilez and backgrounds, I just plain give up, I'm having a really shitty day and this is pretty much the last straw. I've got nothing left. I just don't care anymore. I broke my mp3 player, and 2 pair of headphones today so I'm out $200 and the friggen tills were short 30 bucks at work which means im out another 30 bucks I dont have , I keep having to spend my anime north fund on shit cuz one random expense comes up after another and im all ready in a bad mood and I just cant take this anymore. I quit. Call me a whiner or a bitch or what ever I just dont care anymore, 5 years is a long time to work on a game and try as hard as I have I just cant make people happy with it. so fuck it, game over. I'm outta here.
  7. Sure you'll find it in there next release. Stage 4 Midnight Neon. So anyone play the new release of beta 241 yet? Any problems getting it to run? thoughts? Likes/ dislikes for the new stage 5? Comments ect.? Suggestions for stage 6?
  8. Okay heres the latest version of the game beta 241. Hopefully I fixed some runtime bugs *crosses fingers*. This version has a completed stage 5 Junkyard Albatross including boss. how ever no storyline as been implanted as of yet. Also I took the liberty of placing in several posters for various games on the forums and placing them as background signs for stage 4 Midnight Neon. So far consisting of: Emerald Ties (Chao Killer Team) Sonic the hedgehog 4 (Spike) Sonic EVO (metalsluguk) Sonic the hedgehog DASH (RogueYoshi) Sonic adventure Remixed (GamerGuy) GD Edit: Fixed the game creators for you. There's still plenty of room for more if you want yours in there. Also I made an animated sign of Slingerland and I hope he doesnt get mad, it's kinda poking fun at my games stretched tiles using him. If you disaprove man(slingerland) I'll take it out, it's not ment to make fun of you but as an inside joke of the games development. Bassically the sign says Noob "I'm in yer gayms stretchen yer tilez" Slingerland "OH NO YOU DIDN'T!!! *shows slingerlands forums piccy with flashing text "Slingerland DISAPROVES!!!" if that offends you slingerland I'll take it out, i just thought it'd make a humourous inside joke thats all. Anyway I hope it runs for you all and that you all enjoy what I have thus far.   9. Dont need to be rude about it, I really dont browse the forums enough to even know there was such a function. Sue me. On the bright side now you dont have to wait till the end to be dissapointed and want your money back. (I wasnt trying to be sarcastic there.) Still there's no need to blow a gasket over it simpley say " please use spoiler tags next time. and that would have conveyed the same message.

  11. I feel it needs to be said that sonic next was pointless in the way that in the end, it never even happened, so argueing about balz and sonic not knowig each other doesnt matter cuz in tthe end, the whole game didnt even happen. I hate time-trap stories, they are utterly pointless.

Indeed, I'm trying my best to fix that, I've cleaned it up a bit and managed a 30 fps normal( which is what I was aiming at from the get-go) but it still eats ram pretty badly, im guessing its from internally loaded background music, which I any one is willing to show me how to do externally, I'd be willinf to try to see if that fixes ram whorage. In other news Junkyard Albatross is now complete and I'll be working on stage 6 soon, I just have to go back and input story arch npc's for stage's 4and 5. Also i liked the idea singerland did in his game last SAGE with advertising other peoples fan games, and I was thinking about doing it in my game aswell (if singerland doesnt mind me borrowing the idea heh, credited of course) I've already got sonic EVO signed up for an ad sprite, if anyone else wants to put something in like your name or the title of your game I'll glady take it, I'm looking for about 10 signs total. so if anyoen is interested just pm me or leave a message here.
  14. thats a pretty old version, several months actually, ive been working on the game all day and fixed one or 2 glitches. some proformance bugs have been fixed, i'll upload it soon as i finish checking it to make sure it all works right.
  15. Heh thanks, you might also be happy to know im currently working on cleaning up the coding as best i can, I got a bit of a purformance boost out of it, a small one but its a start...

Yeah I'me doing everythig I can to fix that mad lag problem, I'm pretty sure I know whats cuasing it, the games very scattered when it comes to its use of gml which is a big hug resource wise, As ive learned gam maker and gone through about 4 versions of game maker the game has grown with me, however in doing this it is the victom of many a noob programing move which there are so many it would require an entire coding re-write to really do any justice, and by doing that I'd probably have to rebuild the stages and basically start from scratch. So basically i want to finish it as is as to not waste all the time i spent on it and kind of use it as a testiment to the hard work. In the sequeal which i am planning on doing, I will use all the things I've learned with the first version and make a much more smoother solid, less resource whoring game. This game mens a shat load to me ina sentimental way, it's far from perfect and it has its quirks, it can be tempermental sometimes but when it desides she wants to listen to you and play for you she can be fun to play, at least I hope so anyway. I've tested it on about 4 different pc's with vastly different specs and tried to make it work as best I could for everyone. the main problem I've found is either that persons ram is puny or their gfx card is crappy. Unfortunatly it takes about 512 to a gig to ork this game well which i know is horribly luaghable but i got a gig of ram so i dont complain heh. Reguardless I hope I can get it to work for others. And I will try to clean up the programing some so it runs a bit better too. Now that I think about it maybe for some more junk peices for the trash laying around that zone I should get people to makes broken signs ect for their games as a sort of mini advertizing thing, and use them to add more life to that stage....
  18. indeed the buzz saw is onlya temporary sprite for now until i get a decent saw, like the one from sonic 1. and I plan to grab various other things to throw into those pikles besides the eggrobos, they just make it easy cuz its that junk heep at the end of sonic and knuckles. it's taken so long for me to do this game cuz i lead a very very busy life with school, my job and practice with my band. I've been at this game for nearly 4 years now, its become one of those thigns that i just have to do, ive got to finish it if its the only thing i ever finish in life it has to be done , im sure it'll take another 4 years but i want to finish it. what ever it may end up as int he end i dunno but still. i plan to get it there. Will do, but be forewarned, if you havent played the previous demos of this this game does not use a 360 engine, I started it long before i ever knew of damizean's brilliance. I would have incorperated it but then to me at least i wouldnt have felt like my game but someone elses. i wanted to make it all by myself. ANyway I've got much to do for the game and it isnt goign to make itself so i best get crackin !

  20. Indeed, the only thing im not happy with are the buzz saw sprites as they look pixelated as hell, but i plan to fix that when i have time... other then that i like the look of everything else.
  21. sigh, looks fine to me. but visuals never were anything i gave a rats arse about. And to be fair I've seen a crap load of games on here with the most purtid sprite an tile set up that resembled something an atari shat out after having coffee spilled on its circuit boards and no one complained about those.
  22. jpeg compression and largened screenshots. oh and shoop da whoop. you must really hate stretched tiles. thing is they were that size when i took em off someone elses sprite sheet.
