  1. Haha, well, if you knew the story you'd understand that no current character in the Sonic universe can play the roll that this character is meant to play...it just wouldn't make sense otherwise. However, this isn't another Shadow or anything, he makes a couple of appearances and you fight him once, then you don't see him anymore.
  2. The demo with the time attack record display has already been uploaded. As for the redesigned character, feel free to post him =P.
  3. Haha, yeah...the bloody chao logo is from quite awhile ago...as is the team name. I'm talking 6+ years ago when it was just me and a friend. We were n00bs, but the name stuck. As for the recolor, we actually have a new design for the character which makes him much more original (just need to plop the sprite in, it was finished last night, haha). At any rate, he will play a role in the story. I'm glad people are enjoying time attacking. My hopes were to create a semi-competitive environment where players could get the competitive feeling of multiplayer without having to have another player present to do so. It looks like it's working for the most part, and that makes me happy =). In the future, we are looking into a competition or two regarding time attacking with real prizes. I can't say if it'll be this week or not, but look forward to that ;P.
  4. Ick, yes, that bug has begun to plague me. Right now how the storing works is as follows. At the end of the level, all the data is stored in an array. The data from the array is then loaded into the counters for the new record on the submission screen, as well as in the submission data that's sent out. After the submission is done, there's an ini file that's updated with the values of the counter. I think I'm going to have them grab directly from the array just to be sure, but it shouldn't make a difference =/. We'll be experimenting with this bug a lot as I feel that is important to fix. Edit: Wow, what an oversight. The counter's maximum value was set to 6 (the seconds counter that should go up to 9). So, that glitch is fixed, haha.
  5. Thanks Brad. I'm sorry if I'm coming off as really offended. Truth is that I'm not terribly hurt, just put off. A majority of the criticism in the review is fair, I just wish it were done in a more positive light, that's all. Anyway, let's move off this subject.
  6. I understand what you're saying, ssb, but at the same time you can't ignore the overall negative vibe you get from the review. Each time I read it, I feel the same negative tone throughout the whole article. I don't so much mind the comparison between XG and ETCF, although I can't even remember the last time I saw something out of XG (but I don't pay much attention a lot of the time). I still stand by my statements at the end of my last post. I'm not against constructive criticism, I just feel like the review was written by someone who is usually not impressed with fangames.
  7. I kind of feel that the comments made were a bit harsh. I do like the fact that you keep things down to earth, but at the same time, it seems like you're prodding the game to reach some sort of huge pinnacle originality. We're not trying to completely emulate a Genesis Sonic game, however that's the style that we're using as our basis when we create things. I think it's fair to say that if you flaw us for that, then you flaw a majority of the communities efforts in their fangames. A majority of people are looking to recreate a Sonic experience of their own as they envisioned it would have been. That all being said, ET:CF is far from complete, and we do have elements of gameplay in store that are original and that set it apart from a Sonic Genesis clone. So, again, thank you for the review, it just left me with an odd feeling. It seemed pretty negative overall, and just when I thought there was going to be a little bit of praise, you said something else negative. I kind of felt like a dog that has a treat dangling over it's head but the owner just won't give it to him. I'm not asking your to think ET:CF is the shit or anything, but I just feel like you really buried our efforts.
  8. Someone is getting pretty competitive =P. I may actually have to take a super serious run through some of these levels =).
  9. Spike, what are your system specs? As Rael said, that level has multi-layered parallax...and two sets of them. That could definitely slow things down...so try turning those off (Enter to pause in game and under options on the title screen). If that doesn't help, let me know. The ruins is filled with a lot of moving stuff...active objects in general, so I can understand why slow downs might be encountered...I'm not sure what else I can do to fix up the lag issues in that level if you continue to experience them. Handling BG collisions off screen are already disabled, that's kind of a last resort move. That aside, an updated version will be posted shortly with a majority of the glitches that have been reported fixed. Some suggestions that are additions rather than fixes may not be present. I'll edit this post with an update when it's ready. EDIT: I fixed all the glitches and added all the suggestions in the list Naoshi made. The acceleration has been bumped up slightly, I hope it's still okay.
  10. I see what you mean. It was intended that jumping on it would land you close to the spring on it's back...so, technically, you should be sprung up, but since I have all the enemies programmed in a group, I should try and seperate the Turdle so no matter how you jump on it you get sprung and not hurt. Thanks for submitting that
  11. Thanks for the comments everyone, you're opinions are both inspiring and helpful =). Can you tell me when this happens? The only way you should be able to kill the little Turdle badniks in Sparkling Seaside is by rolling or spindashing into them (aside from invincibility, haha). Any type of jumping (regardless of where you collide with the Turdle) will get you hurt. So, if you're getting hurt while jumping and getting hurt, that's intended. If not, just let me know when it's happening and I'll see if I can fix it =).
  12. Alright guys, it's that time again! A brand new ET:CF demo has arrived! A new level is featured along with a revamped first level. Of course, many other face lifts have been done along the way as well. You can grab it here: http://etcf.thisisourcorner.net/ Screenshots and the download link are in the "Download" section of the above website. I encourage everyone to try out the online time attack submission system. Compete for the best times, highest ring count, and/or highest scores! Feel free to post any comments/bugs/suggestions here. Enjoy everyone! =)
  13. DW and I still have to face off. PM/IM me whenever you're ready to fight. IM is EmeraldCaladbolg.
  14. WRONG! Tomorrow shall be for testing, fool! =D
  15. Hey Zal, it's been awhile...I was worried when you seemed to disappear of the face of the earth. We should really catch up sometime...PM me and I'll send you AIM/MSN contact info.
  16. Microsoft announced Fable 2's release date, that was personally exciting for me. Loved the first Fable. At any rate, I honestly was most impressed by Microsoft's offerings so far. Nintendo and Sony don't have much that interests me right now =/.
  17. I give up. Honestly, I have four games for the Wii that I enjoy(ed): Zelda, Mario Galaxy, Brawl, Kart. All the other games I own are meh. I'm not a mini-games guy. I personally feel that Wii Sports is extremely boring...I was thoroughly disappointed with the Nintendo press conference. What happened to Nintendo's promise that they haven't forgotten about hardcore gamers? Animal Crossing? Please, that's not what I would consider a hardcore game, not even remotely. Wii Sports Resort and Wii Music? No thanks. The new motion support is cool, but I still feel that this is what the Wii should have been like when it launched. The only way even this will get me excited is if they make a lightsaber dueling game where you can slice the crap out of a friend...or even do a four-way match. I'm just so disappointed right now. I really feel like Nintendo has forgotten about people like me (and I'm sure most of you). The only game I'm even remotely excited about is Sonic Unleashed *bashing ensues*. These are the people who are loyal to the company and follow their franchises closely. I'm tired of this mini-game casual crap...*stares at Wii in the corner of the room* I guess it's going to be there until next E3.
  18. If that's really a concern (which honestly, the 8600 is a pretty weak card...if he was getting an 8800, I'd say differently...but 8600 is pretty meh), then get something like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139003 12V rail is plenty powerful. *shrugs* I think in this case it won't really matter.
  19. I wouldn't go for a cheap motherboard either. As its already been stated, that's just asking for trouble. A good quality motherboard and power supply are essential to a stable system. I'd start cheaping out on RAM and video card first, if at all. As far as matching up the screw holes, the best way to do that would be to look at a standard atx motherboard picture. Your cases supports both atx and micro-atx. ATX reference Micro ATX reference The first picture is a little harder to pick out, but there are 9 screw holes (not including the four making a square around the CPU socket). The second picture (for micro atx) has 7 screw holes each lined with a metal cover. These two boards represent what most atx/micro-atx boards use for mounting. If the board inside your computer looks like it has the same mount scheme, then it has a good chance of being ok in your new case. Again, I can't guarantee anything though.
  20. Alright, first thing, be careful. It seems like you're going to be switching cases. Often times the motherboards that come with OEM PCs like HP, Dell, Compaq, etc are tailored special for the case that they come in. You may find that when you swap cases that the motherboard mountings will not line up properly. The page you've linked to with your current PC's specifications don't (and I'm not surprised by this) state what motherboard it has. So...be prepared for the fact that the motherboard may not fit into your new case properly (not only from a mounting perspective, but you won't have the proper backplate for the I/O panel in the back, I almost guarantee you that). I'd suggest one of two things. 1. Keep your current case intact and just use that (don't know what kind of room you have for the power supply in that case though) 2. Buy a new motherboard. Obviously the more expensive route...depending on the mounting used for the CPU heatsink/fan, you may need to pick up a new one of those too because those are also sometimes designed specifically for the motherboard that the computer came with. The reason why I bring this to your attention is because in my very early days of computer upgrading, my neighbor did something similar...the nightmares we had with mounting and cpu installation...it was a mess. My neighbor ended up busting the cpu trying to get the heatsink to go on correctly... Hard Drive It's hard to go wrong with Seagate and/or Western Digital. I prefer the WD 640GB over the Seagate. It's only $10 more, but your choice is just fine. Video card I haven't used a 8600. I've always been a big 8800GT guy. I have one and it rocks everything I have. However, the price they run is about double what you're paying there. For what you want to spend, this should be good. Power Supply I'm not a huge fan of Antec for power supplies. I prefer Silverstone, PC Power & Cooling/Corsair, and Seasonic. This is a great Silverstone PSU that I think would be a better bang for your buck. Same price as the one you picked out, better wattage and better overall amperage. Link: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817256008 Case The case is snazzy. If you need to save some money, that's where I would tend to start to re-evaluate first. There's nothing wrong with your choice, it's just a little on the pricey side since it's cool looking. RAM The RAM is generic Kingston, nothing to say there. Looks good. Since you wanted two sticks though, just get the 2GB kit. It saves you from paying $6.99 for shipping twice if you buy the sticks separate. Link: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820134046 . Same memory, just two paired into one product =).
  21. Or, alternatively, you can purchase the Nyko wireless sensor bar. That way you can still have a good distance between your Wii and your computer.
  22. Some laptops have built-in Bluetooth support, however, a lot don't. Like Sockman said, you will most likely need a Bluetooth USB device in order to even get the ball rolling.
  23. I've been back from vacation...I've been waiting for DW to let me know when he's free >_>.
  24. I don't know...anything I've gotten has been an ISO install image with a fix'd executable or something...occasionally a registry patch, but the program still requires installation to work properly.
