  1. Interesting, for sure. Yet, having one guy who worked on the original series and a few series-loving developers in a mass of people who otherwise don't care.. I'm not sure it'll make too much of a difference.
  2. I don't think we're on the same page. It's nothing we've done. Your original statement makes it seem like because we don't give them money, they make crappy games. When the reality is that we don't give them money because they make crap games. It's a bit different. And call me crazy, but I feel like the "better business opportunity" you're speaking of would, in fact, be a Sonic the Hedgehog 4 that wasn't crap because then you'd capture your entire audience- the kids who don't care about quality because it's Sonic and the people who want to pay for decent games, no? Not to mention all the positive publicity to encourage new fans. And that whole effort thing won't fly with me because, honestly, I'm thinking it's pretty easy to ensure a character can't stand on a wall. Generally if you have to look at something day in and day out and something like that happens it almost becomes a hassle not to fix it because you know it's there. Edit: Bah, defend it- it's whatever. Let's just say we don't agree and you can continue to hold out because it's the alpha build and the last decade didn't happen.
  3. And why do we not give them money? Hmm, oh, yes, because they do this and their games suck. So, like their games, I don't buy it. Edit: Back to my point about this being in alpha and there being like 5 months until release. I'm going to use the Windows Phone 7 OS to compare this whole "they've got time" thing with Sonic 4 being in alpha. I think it's a reasonable assumption that they've been working on it since the Zune HDs release. And even though it won't hit market until the next holiday season, which arguably is a bit different because of partners/handset manufacturers, it still isn't completely utterly broken simply because "they have time." Sure, it's kind of buggy- missed gestures, lag and the like- but overall it's a functioning piece of software and it gives an indication of how it'll work once it does hit market. On Sega's part, they had the video taken down, so I suppose they weren't ready to release it yet... but I think in general we know they don't ever refine anything given that video that was posted.
  4. This is an alpha like 5 months before the game's due to hit by a company who released a game in which you can stand completely upside down on a ceiling and not fall and- well- Nah, you right, dawg- nothing to worry about. Edit: I mean, really? I don't have a huge inner knowledge of the game industry but 4+ months to turn something from a crappy alpha to a finished build? You do realize there are companies that spend years making games, right? And, even so, you do realize it's generally considered a bad thing when you can stand on the ceiling, right? I mean.. right? Get that crap outta here. That's what fans generally do. Just because a band releases a bad single or a bad album doesn't mean you suddenly stop listening to them. Or an author makes a bad book. Or you know, anything. What they did right was make a handful of games that were amazing and fun to play. I can't believe anyone has to explain this.
  5. Good for you. Others actually like playing as Tails or Knuckles. Playing the same game in different ways. And because some of us believe that they're not only doing it to be "oldschool" but because they don't want to deal with those "different ways" and routes of playing. Oh, I don't know, something about it being an alpha build that they decided to show because they thought it was worth showing. And the fact that it's an alpha build of a game due to be released relatively soon by a company that, it would seem, doesn't generally refine very much.
  6. I really dig the way the back looks. The design for the lights is awesome.
  7. Yea, but there was no context for the image- I had no idea about any Sonic-themed room at some hotel so.. it was pretty confusing, ya know? Edit: This topic is now hilarious. :U
  8. Okay, clearly, I have no idea what the heck was going on. I thought you were being incredibly sarcastic. I just wanna know what Rael was referring to. Someone link it, because I don't see anything on the website. Edit: Nevermind, it's here. The only thing I could come up with based on that random image was that maybe Dreadknux had his computer plugged into a projector. I mean... I don't really know about all the latest Sonic the Hedgehog-themed rooms at random hotels I've never been to/care about. On top of that it just looked hella fake. So.. yea, really confusing. :E
  9. ...What in the world? I'm guessing you have a projector?
  10. Where are you getting this from? Can you guys start linking to the pages?
  11. Actually, those are the kinds of screenshots people want to see. Or at least I do. Edit: I think I read that wrong.
  12. Too lazy to post a pic, but yea Windows 7 is awesome. I, too, have a 5.9 caused by the hdd. 7.1s for Processor/RAM and 6.6s for the graphics.
  13. Where the crap are you getting all this gorgeous stuff?
  14. Looks really nice. That area where you have to hit one spring, then another, and then jump up looks tricky, though.
  15. I honestly couldn't give a damn what color Sonic's eyes are, but I've always preferred the Sonic Adventure model over anything else. That's oldschool enough in my opinion- he was still short and pudgy. Although this logo is the most amazing thing I've seen and makes me sad.
  16. Is this all the info that's going to be released? There were only two of these "community events", right?
  17. The background layers are flat because they're designed to look like the parallax from the old games- essentially planes. From my understanding- it occurs naturally in any 3D environment. So clearly the decision to even have layers means it was on purpose, and if they weren't going for that look, wouldn't they have just straight-up modeled the background and let nature take care of itself? You think it's ugly- which doesn't change the fact that the decision was made. I, on the other hand, think it looks fine in motion.
  18. This is hilarious. I, for one, don't think the model looks too bad. Granted, I'd prefer 2D HD graphics, but it's no biggie. As far as the parallax layers- they're clearly paper thin on purpose. The rings however, are incredibly large. Having only Sonic playable is, indeed, kind of idiotic and crappy. I think the homing attack idea is pretty stupid.
  19. I really would be nice, though, to have a canon. Not that it matters now.
