  1. You know I did this before. Now I see why people didn't like it. You gotta give us more than a description and a list of what you need. Have some work to show us or something. That's literally just the base engine with new Sonic sprites. Not trying to come off mean and I barely have room to talk but this really isn't anything special to look at. This will get lots flack.

  2. I think my point went over your head.

He could, oh...I don't know, help the team finish the game instead of working on extras?

I believe he's just the spriter. With extra time he can make extra stuff until the team needs him right? I'm not sure how it goes but unless he's a coder that seems okay to me.
  3. You asked- and you will indeed receive!

Not really, I'm tired of talking about Boom and would rather find out more of the behind the scenes development, like Team Members leaving, CryEngine, and the lay-offs, ect.

But I will indeed defend Boom... Well just cause I feel like it.

Okay so, Boom, unlike 06 is on a more "stable" level. The gameplay isn't broken by any means. What I mean by that is, the base gameplay works. While glitches are bound and plentiful, on a normal playthrough you probably won't run into any of them. Emphasis on probably. The gameplay itself is redeemable but they did a lot wrong which is understandable to dislike. I personally wish they did more with the whole different character stuff. Like if they focused more on the platforming aspect besides the puzzles, and actually used the character abilities to venture to actual different routes but meh. If this is genre you like one playthrough will probably be enjoyable to you. And when not looking at the "oh it's not like normal sonic" the core design isn't bad at all just very boringly executed.

    I don't know- imo.

  4. Now that i played the game myself i can say that...this game doesnt do a good job of being very..fun or memorable. All the levels feel very cookie-cutter, with some aesthetic changes that dont mean much. The gimmicks and character moveset are straight copies of freedom planet(like the gems in the temple level are straight out of battle glacier, even some of the layout of them is similar). The game also has an overall lack of polish, i found myself getting stuck in slopes all the time or just stopping for no real reason.

I wouldn't say this at all feels similar to freedom planet besides the special meter which other games have and handle the same. I saw a few pages back the same thing was mentioned but I don't see it. If anything these moves are straight out of Sonic with a special meter attached. Boost / Air Boost - Flight / Tailspin thing. So no I do not agree. I can however agree on the lack of polish.

This game could either use an engine revamp or a complete change of engines and then porting everything over. The slopes are a bit broken which slows gameplay. The levels were good enough to me and while they can use more specific gimmicks, they're enjoyable enough.

  5. I REALLY liked the fact that you even have a mobile version. That's really cool and- since I played that version, that's the one I'll talk about. I'm not sure if this is my phone or the game but the framerate kept dropping and sometimes stayed very low, it only surprises me because I've ran emulated DS games before 3D and 2D which didn't have the problem.

But on to the game! I really liked it, both characters played very well and it seems you fixed the jumping acceleration I believe because now jumping to other platforms is no longer hard to do. The special moves are a bit weak seeing as the meter refills REALLY slow unless collect coins. Everything plays great so far and seems very well put together.

I did get a glitch where everything besides the tiles of the map turned into hitboxes though. All I saw were white flashing boxes for each thing, enemies, rings, player, and a couple more like springs.

Some things I didn't like were the fact that roll still is pretty ineffective and the specials are pretty underwhelming (salamon to be more specific) and special recoveries are too long in my opinion. Gameplay could use s'more "spice" but it's fine and the levels could use some lengthening but since there's so many it's okay.

edit: Oh yea mobile d-pad could use some enlarging. Not the actual graphic but the touch radius or whatever.

  6. In my opinion Colors was also a bore. Pretty cool environments and music but lacking story and gameplay.

While Boom seems to have cut some things and just was a lacking story- I found it's stuff a lot better (story wise) than anything we had recently.

And the gameplay, in my opinion, wasn't bad, just painfully average to the point where it was lack luster, combined with shortcomings in the dev department (the glitches) made it a lot worse than it is at face value. If I had a Wii U I'd probably enjoy it but it really feels like they went for the bare minimum with everything. Got combat finished, didn't add any extras to it. Got Sonic and Co's moveset out the way, never expanded on them or gave them upgrades (same with combat).

So yeah. I don't know with this one.

  7. 12 Days, cool. I don't think I can anything out but if I can make a little level to jump n' shoot man, could I submit? It's less of an actual game and more a demonstration of what else I can make is why I'm asking.

I'm getting back into the groove of stuff, recently. So this would be a good inspiration to do more.
