  1. You wont be getting a programmer.

If someone wanted to program a Sonic Game they would just make there own and find people to do Graphics/Music or in cases like LakeFepard they'll make just about everything on there own.

As a musician myself you'd be surprised how many people I get on YouTube asking if I'll make music for there fan game and they've got nothing but concepts. Without a playable demo at the very least, people wont want top work on your game with you.

If you want help finding an engine and tips on programming for yourself the people here are always happy to help another. I forgot the name of the thread but there's a general post your technical questions somewhere I think.

I'd go find yourself an engine (Try different ones to see which one your most comfortable with), Design some concepts for your first level then get into making some actual Sprite work and slowly start the road to development.

After you've got a stable demo with at least a first fully playable level then maybe go looking for people to come join your team.

  2. I'm working on a fan game myself. It's very early in development but here's a preview: Sonic Legends - Lunar Paradise Zone

It's a game inspired by the Classic Series but with additional elements inspired by Sonic Adventure and Sonic Advance.

"Sonic and Tails fly away from Angel Island leaving the events of Sonic 3 and Knuckles behind, Destined for a relaxation session Sonic decide's to go to Paradise Island, A place where the grass is always green and lush and the stars shine through both day and night.

As the Tornado glides over the top of the fast flowing river, Sonic leaps off the plane and lands on the edge of a cliff. He faces Tails and gives him a farewell wave as the Tornado flies away into the distance...

Welcome to the Lunar Paradise Zone the start of the adventure. The start of the Legend."

I have an early build in the Sonic Dash engine but plan on moving to Sonic Worlds, I'm going to use Sonic Worlds Delta v.1.3 but what Extensions and version of MMF2 do I need? I'm having some problems opening the engine up.

  3. Just played the game and the Heatwave lagged a bit.

THe only other complaint is this REALLY needs some instructions,

The first time round it took me ages to work out you had to press W to change to punch mode. How would a player be expected to know that action is available in the game?

And then I don't know how but on my second run I changed into Dark Sonic. Is this intentionally meant to happen this early? Is it a glitch? Did i press a key to activate it?

Instructions are needed because it was frustrating to say the least.

Apart from that though I liked it, The level was a bit slow paced at times and multiple paths is a good idea, but not if it pointlessly loops you back to the start.

The rainbow rings worked well at the start but when Sonic landed onto the box/crate he was stuck in his falling position.

There's a part in the stage where you jump on a spring and then have to jump on another spring to reach a high platform near the ceiling. If you move slightly to the left you can go above the screen and skip half of the level by running on the roof.

The music was an awesome piece but it doesn't fit a Sonic game though.. Who composed it? I really like it as a piece of music.

So yeah overall it's a good concept and a good start but needs work.

  4. I had a similar problem with my keyboard not recognizing keys been pressed, I put the keyboard into a different PC and it worked fine. My assumption was that I had malware or a virus so I did scans and still had issues..

Something what worked for me is I was using a USB keyboard so I plugged in an old keyboard (Forgot the name of the connector) and it worked fine.. I've re-formatted since then so not tried the USB keyboard as I kinda prefer the design of this one but try using an old keyboard if possible..

  5. I'm still confused as to why there's no unlockable's or secrets for getting all the Red Rings.. it's just plain stupid. I think the unlockable may of been Episode Metal but due to people been sceptical of buying EP:II because of Ep:I's they decided to scrap the unlockable feature and just throw it in anyway to tempt people to get the game and pay for EP:1 If they bought on a different console..

  6. Just played this demo and its looking sweeet! It would be cooler if it was actually from behind and not slightly above though. I guess then you would have to mess around with gradients on the walls to show where they are and there angles..

I'm the opposite of Instrutilus in terms of if it should be 2D or 3D.. I think if it was 3D it would be harder yes, But it would be more unique and set itself apart from every other 2D fan game..

If we can't agree maybe we should have it almost Unleashed style in terms of the 2D/3D mechanic.. Have 2D sections then change into 3D sections, Kinda like How Rush did with the hanglider and Generations 3DS did with the rails, But actually have you running?

Skip to around 5:20 to see what I mean :)

  7. I should of constructed that sentance better, I should of put like Sonic AND Mario...

    Bad grammar is bad..

But anyway that's actually a pretty awesome idea! I all ways thought someone should expand on the Sonic CD Special stage approach and make a full engine/game with it.

I actually think collaborating on a 3D engine like that would be 100x more creative and fresh than another side scroller.

May I ask what code your using to make it? (C++/GM/MMF2)
