    Wow. I am REALLY bad at level design. I have a vague idea of a type of level I want to make, but no idea what it should look like.

      Yeah, it looks so simple but once you go in you realize just how much thought is put into those levels. You should play through various Sonic games and pay close attention how the paths branch and how the level maintains a flow.
