  1. I used to go by Neogamer0012 and NeoKaos. When I was about 13 I decided needed a cooler nickname to stand out as an L337 Star Wars Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight. Looking around the net it seemed like people used words phrases or words that didn't make much sense. So I decided I should do something similar. As I recall I liked the idea of being an Over achiever but that is seems a bit too generic. So I added the word Bound and here I am.

Don't lie, you got the "Bound" from Earthbound, right?

  2. The Sonic fan community is quite a diverse community, and calling your type "ordinary" is a bit harsh. But I get what you mean. You're a fan who just really likes the Sonic games, and I'm sure most of us on this board are like that.

Well, putting it like that is a bit harsher in hindsight, I agree. Although I was talking about how it was directed towards the minority of the fans that are flat-out obsessed with Sonic. The rest who can say that they are fans of the games I call "Ordinary" or "Normal".

And I'm pretty sure all of you guys are like that. I'm just AN ordinary Sonic fan. ;)

  3. Because of the reputation from the Sonic Community (Being all... NOT ordinary and such), I figured I wanted to be one of the ACTUALLY SANE people who are fans of Sonic the Hedgehog, and make my username describe myself.

"I am an ordinary Sonic fan."

    An ordinary Sonic fan.

    AnOrdinarySonicFan.

    Bingo! I'm done!

  4.

And I related that in the second part of what I wrote after I wrote about how shitty I thought Super Saiyan God form was.

"Also, I guess it was also only a matter of time before yet another Goku saiyan transformation that made him super powerful was to be used by other characters to make them all not obsolete as well haha."

No matter what way I slice it I think the SSG form is incredibly stupid and seeing someone else from a saiyan line (I am going to be very surprised if it isn't Trunks as a SSG) using that form defeats the purpose and is pretty stupid as well.

Before that though Super Saiyan by itself was the peak of powering up...but then they exceeded that. Then it was Super Saiyan 2 and 3 and all the other stuff they threw in like fusions. Then you had Gohan being able to go past that without doing anything special like you said. Then finally they have Super Saiyan God. I don't think having the other forms before that is really any excuse as to how lazy it looks (especially with the name they gave that form). I feel that's DBZ in a nutshell though...it started out cool, had some neat ideas and Super Saiyan Goku at the time was pretty rad - and then they tried to ramp it all up in an interesting way only to start giving up and throwing in a bunch of stupid crap haha. I prefer the original Dragon Ball any day of the week over the latter half of DBZ.

In that case, I would agree with you. In some ways, SSJG looks like a downgrade from the awesome-looking Super Saiyan 3. I heard from a lot of people that in future movies it would state that Vegeta would turn into SSJG and that there would be different forms of SSJG, but I would take it with a grain of salt, especially since these "sources" happen to be my friends.

I remember back in the way when everyone who first saw Super Saiyan, it was spectacular. And thus spawned in multiple videos on Youtube of humans turning Super Saiyan. Then came Super Saiyan 2, where it was kind of underplayed, debuting it while fighting Majin Vegeta. The fight wasn't spectacular compared to the Saiyan Saga Goku V.S. Vegeta fight, but it was a fairly nice intro to Super Saiyan 2. Super Saiyan 3 got everyone hyped up, with an entire episode dedicated to showing Majin Buu Goku's new transformation. I dunno. It's something about the transformations and how Goku exceeded those limits in which inspires me.

I am currently drawing a comic which is just Stick Figures turning Super Saiyan and fighting aliens. The Super Saiyan transformations are that influential.

  5. I think Super Saiyan God in general is the most generic evolution in the super saiyan line and I'm disappointed they didn't do anything cooler with it. As hilarious looking and kinda cheesy the SS4 form from GT looks/is, it at least played upon the whole monkey vibe and at least felt like it signified a transition into something a bit more beyond human. That really isn't a complaint leveled out against this game but what I consider a bit of laziness on Toriyama's part with that form - he could have totally outdone that element of GT but oh well. SSG form looks just like Goku activated kaioken or something.

Also, I guess it was also only a matter of time before yet another Goku saiyan transformation that made him super powerful was to be used by other characters to make them all not obsolete as well haha. This is a huge complaint I have with Dragon Ball Z in general though and why I vastly prefer the original series over DBZ.

Anyway as for the game I do like the cel shade look and I at least hope its good. I wouldn't mind picking it up if only to just blast a few dudes in the face.

Err, I was talking about the character at the end of the Xenoverse trailer, not the transformation of SSJG itself.

Not too impressed, really. Doesn't look nearly as polished as Burst Limit, which looked waaayyy better artistically and was a last-gen title. The models don't animate nearly as well either. Honestly it looks like they're building this game off the raging blast engine.

Even still, looks worlds better than the other games gameplay and animation wise.

    Judging tiiiiiiime!

Welp, the gameplay isn't anything that we have already seen in the last games. One difference that I would like to bring up is the fact that the camera is more zoomed out, and we can see the character we're controlling, the enemy, and the environment itself. There are games in which the camera is focused on the character we're controlling only and didn't focus on the enemy and the environment - something that plagued the Budokai Tenkaichi games.

Another thing that is different from other games that is in this one is how versatile Goku (And possibly other characters) is during the gameplay. He can run, flip-dodge, launching Ki-blasts while moving left or right, launching Kamehamehas immediately, etc. That said, I would like to check the game out just for the mechanics and controls of the game.

  6. Actually....it looks pretty familiar, enough so that i'd initially ignore it completely. The only reason I haven't is because Dimps is back. It looks like it's going to be 3D like the tenkaichi games, and it doesn't look as graphically impressive as Burst Limit was. But i'm just hoping it'll be a decent game, because the last 6 were not.

Well, because the title of Dragon Ball Xenoverse looks different from other titles where they use "Budokai" or generic titles like "DBZ: For Kinect" I get the feeling that this game would be distinct from the last 6 games.

The actual graphics that they show on the trailer, I can see what you mean that it looks familiar. To me, it looks like Raging Blast's graphics did the fusion dance with Ultimate Tenkaichi's graphics. That said, it looks gorgeous so far. I'm not really going to judge the game completely until I see actual gameplay.

Anyways, what do you guys think of the (Super-Saiyan-God-Trunks) look-a-like?

  7. How ironic, i had just mentioned Dimps and DBZ in another topic. I actually really liked Budokai 3 and Burst Limit, and it looks like they're back for the first time since then.

Hopefully this'll be the first decent DBZ game in 6 years.

I love Budokai 3, but I have yet to try Burst Limit. I hear that it is a mediocre game.

The way I see it, Xenoverse looks... different than most of the DBZ games.

I remember Budokai 3 being okay. It was a fighting game, but much weirder than the likes of Street Fighter. I remember it having alot of monitoring meters and countering attacks. I haven't played a DBZ game since, so I wouldn't know how they've been recently.

Really, there is no other DBZ game that trumps Budokai 3. Compared to Street Fighter, this game would be weird to play due to how fast paced Budokai 3 is - At times even faster than anything Marvel V.S. Capcom can do. I found B3 natural to control and pulling off massive combos that have massive damage outputs was relatively easy.

Some people in comments of videos say that Budokai Tenkaichi 3 is the best, but I found the controls complex and I didn't like the isometric view of 3rd person when you are controlling a character. That's just me.

The games that came out recently are mediocre at best. Especially Ultimate Tenkaichi and DBZ: For Kinect. Those two were such disappointments to me.

If you want a fast-paced fighter game, take a shot on playing Dragon Ball Z Budokai 3 again. Heck, you can find it in the HD Collection that has Budokai 1 and 3 bundled up in a PS3 package. You won't regret it. :D

  8. Metroid Prime Hunters, first case of a game i legitimately Loathe. I feel this is worse than other M, this is my personal Sonic 06.

The one Metroid game that stands out as stank. MP Hunters could have been good, but those controls are so terrible, they should have saved it for 3DS, that would have been awesome. I remember getting this for my birthday and regretting it so much, I played in the SA2B Chao garden to numb the pain.

Guys, to each his own, but to me, MP Hunters was a neat little game to me. And I did not mind the controls, because I didn't see any other controls that could have worked for the DS.

I guess my Gaming Bummer has to be Sonic Genesis. I thought "Oh, I get to play Sonic 1... but ON-THE-GO!"

Almost wanted to burn the cartridge by the end of that night.

  9.

I'm betting 10 Internet Points that

    1. There will be a Sonic the Hedgehog movie, but it will be bad.
    2. There won't be a a Sonic the Hedgehog movie, and it's just a troll.

Guys, remember when I said this? Considering that the Top People are choosing the movie to be like the Smurfs (CGI + Live-action), I'm leaning VERY CLOSELY towards 1.

  10. Beh. There are so many good games that I can't just compile a list just like that. But I'll try my hardest, and it may change (Assuming that this becomes a hot topic).

#5 Super Robot Taisen: Original Generation 1&2 (Game Boy Advance, NA released 2006)

Yeah, this was kind of an obscure game to have on my list. It is a tactical role-playing game, just like Advance Wars and Fire Emblem. Some might even call this game "Fire Emblem, but with Super Robots!" Frankly, it deserves the title. As usual, you control multiple mechs and destroy the enemy. The thing is, after you set an attack, it takes on a very flashy visual sequence in which the mech annihilates the enemy, sorta like an anime style cutscene.

The visuals are great, the music epic, and the battle system is detailed. Admittedly though, the game can get rather hard, especially since there are boss characters that have about 20,000 HP while you have about 5,000 - 8,000 HP. It also does not help that there is no difficulty switch of any sort. Although thankfully there are remedies for problems like that, such as skills that let you evade the enemy no matter what, skills that let you always hit the opponent, and skills that double their damage output.

#4 Sonic 3 & Knuckles (Sega Genesis, NA released 1994)

I mean why am I in this forum if there wasn't a Sonic game on my favorites. What can I say about the game that hasn't already been said in this topic?

The level design is splendid, the music is top notch, and the goodies in which you can get (Plus the addition of alternate pathways for different characters) spawns infinite playthroughs. Sweet game.

#3 Super Mario World / Super Mario Advance 2 (Super Nintendo, Game Boy Advance, NA released 1990, 2001)

Super Mario World is the best Mario game I have ever played. The level design is great, the control is easy-to-pick-up, the music is catchy, and the background is beautiful.

But I bet what this forum is asking: "GASP! A Mario game is above a Sonic game?! Down with AnOrdinaryMarioFan!" Here is one word for ya, people:

    NOSTALGIA.

This game was at one point all that I have ever played on the Game Boy (At this point, I'm talking about the Mario World port on Advance 2), and I don't regret those years of 100 percenting the game.

#2  The Super Smash Bros. Series (NA released in N64 (1999), GCN (2001), Wii (2008), Wii U/ 3DS (June 1, 2014, please, Nintendo?))

Also known by many as one of the best fighting series compared to the likes of Super Hyper Mega Street Fighter II Turbo Arcade HD Remix: Gold Edition and Marvel VS Capcom VS Tatsunoko VS SNK VS DC Universe X Namco. All joking aside, The series is the best fighting game series I have ever played. For those of you wondering, this is the games in order of my preference:

Super Smash Bros. < Super Smash Bros. Brawl < Super Smash Bros. Melee <<<<< Super Smash Bros. 4 (hopefully!).

The fighting mechanics are great, the music is... *Head explodes*. The visuals are great, and it did what it did very well. That applies to every game mentioned above. The only crappy part about Smash was Subspace Emissary, but then again no one liked Subspace Emissary. Here's to Smash 4, everyone.

#1 Fire Emblem Awakening - The game graced by gods (Nintendo 3DS (XL), 2DS, NA released 2013)

I apologize if I put a game too recent to be on anyone's favorite game's list such as my own, but I can't help it. Fire Emblem Awakening is a game that can have standards, and exceeds them by a mile.

    313774-fire-emblem-awakening-gameplay.jp

Fire Emblem is a game done completely right. The gameplay for a Tactical Role Playing video game exceeds far beyond what Super Robot Taisen would ever go. I mentioned on Super Robot Taisen that it was too hard, and that you can't set any difficulty. In Fire Emblem Awakening, you can basically make this game to be the easiest game, or possibly one of the hardest games you'll ever play. I have never seen a game that can masterfully do something like that. There are some new stuff that is introduced into this RPG masterpiece, such as the option of marrying your teammate and have a child that inherits both the stats from the dad and mom. What helps is the game's LEGENDARY soundtrack. Don't believe me?

If you haven't played this game at all, fix that problem immediately. You'll be glad you did.

Sorry I overdid this post, guys. I just wanna stop having rainbows gushing out of my mouth from all of this epic. I'm done, I'm done.

  11. Let's see if this doesnt end up as Megaman Battle Network/ Shooting Star that killed all the megaman franchise, i dont want or like to see a good concept being abused just for the sake of the money as Megaman did, it looks great just lets hope this time things are going to be different inafune

Aww, don't say that to me! I love Battle Network and Starforce! It actually got me into the series!

On a different note, I love how Azure Striker Gunvolt looks. As a successor to Megaman Zero and ZX, I am ALL FOR it.

  12. A Sonic SHMUP, huh? That is interesting!

    I suggest a few things:

    • Super Sonic flying around space (Or the sky if preferred), shooting Space Badniks and the like with Energy beams
    • Shadow dashing through the land shooting regular badniks with Chaos Spears
    • Tails with his Tornado going through the sky

Power ups should be like SHMUPS where they increase power, so Chaos Emeralds should be power-ups. We all know what would happen if we collect all 7.

I would also like to see a Sonic Bullet Hell. I am interested on how that would look like.
