  1. Man, so much indifference in the game.

I, myself, am interested in the game. I'm just not sure how the hell they would pull it off. In a sandbox game where you yourself can make the story, and Minecraft is no exception. I don't know why there is so much indifference in the game, though.

Some of you guys mention that because this game takes away the "Main focuses" of Minecraft. You guys do know that this is a separate game aside from Minecraft, right? It's not like this game needs to be bought in order to continue playing Minecraft. You can play Minecraft and not buy Story Mode and still has all that "Oh, I can create my own story" elements into it.

You guys say that Telltale, with it's shitty engine, cannot pull off making a story driven Minecraft adventure.

    1. A trailer hasn't even been released, and you guys are criticizing just from the concept alone? Really? At least let them release a trailer before you say that a game like Story Mode is going to be stupid.
    2. You've all seen how Telltale make their games. They are good at doing what they do. Give them a chance, guys!
    3. Milking money off of Minecraft? Even without Minecraft, Telltale is doing successfully with its The Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us games. They did this fanservice first, money second.

Now don't get me wrong, I do not think that Story Mode will be the Second Coming of Jesus or anything like that. I just think that you guys are giving a lot of criticism for something that doesn't have a trailer and only an announcement. As an avid Minecraft player for well over 2 years, I am intrigued by the concept, and I can't wait for Telltale to make a trailer to see what the game would actually be about.

  2. Story time, kids! Take your seats!

Anyways, I was in elementary school, where I was kind of a loner. Not really sure why I was a loner, but I was. At that point, I wasn't an avid fan of video games and whatnot because I didn't have interest in them. One day I was hiding near the playground where everybody was playing. Suddenly, this awkward kid came up to me and see if I wanted to play a game called "Sonic Genesis" (At this point, Sonic Genesis barely came out). At that point, I didn't grasp the difference between a good game and a bad game, but I remembered loving the crap out of the game. This kid later came to my house, conveniently, with a Sega Genesis, and we played the Sonic trilogy for the entire rest of the day. As years gone by, I'd have more and more friends drop by so we could play some Sonic games, even though games like Call of Duty and Assassin's Creed were released.

I guess the point of that little story is that I made friends because of Sonic the Hedgehog and his games. That is (partly) the reason why I am still a Sonic fan today, so I know that I can spend time with my friends of how much this new Sonic game is kickass. If a Sonic game sucks, me and my friends would banter on how bad it is (We would usually just have meet ups just to make fun of Sonic '06. That game reached clown status, ladies and gentlemen). The point of Sonic, since its inception, is so we could have fun while playing the game, and to this day, that point hasn't changed for me.

What also helps is the Sonic fanbase. For as rabid as they can get, at times, they shine like a gem. The fandom may be crazy, but they are very much devoted to give us awesome things like fan games, hilarious videos, etc. For example, have you ever noticed that people appreciate Sonic the Hedgehog so much that they devote all of their free time to make fan games? Special mention goes out to fan games like Sonic BtS/AtS and (To some extent) Freedom Planet. Another example is the Sonic Shorts series.

They were inspired by a great franchise to make games and videos that is also great, and thus, we get more out of Sonic.

As for the future of Sonic the Hedgehog, I am really optimistic. Even though Sonic Boom flopped, I still look forward to what Sonic Team has in store for us. For me, if a Sonic game is good, it hits it right out of the ball park (Sonic Colors, Generations, Sonic CD Re-release). I have a gut feeling that very good Sonic games are on the way for us pretty soon, and I am hopeful that they will appease some of the hardcore pessimists in this thread. (KIDDING. Jeez.) I'm with you, Ryan. I'm hopeful.

  3. That was ambiguous? I thought NaruHina was pretty obvious.

Well, I mean, Kishimoto has teased us multiple times throughout the original Naruto series and Shippuden. Remember the fake Sakura confession?

  4. Since my family doesn't have a lot of money, we don't really do anything. Although, somehow, we always make the holiday work. Maybe that's Christmas Magic or whatever, but I always have a good time in Christmas, money or not. If my parents work on that day (Which usually happens, unfortunately), I would go to someone's house and spend time with friends.

On the off chance that we do get money, my family doesn't do things traditionally like most families do it. What we do is always go shopping on the week of Christmas, and not waste our time with Black Friday. When we have our presents, we would wrap them the day before Christmas Eve. On Christmas Eve, usually my cousins and aunts and uncles (Which happen to also be my best friends) would come over and hang out. We don't sleep in Christmas Eve, as we would stay up all night. When we were young, my cousins and I thought that because we would stay up all night, we would stay awake long enough for Santa to leave additional presents on our trees. Now, we would stay up because me and my family would go to Midnight Mass at our local church. After an hour and a half of it, we would be home, and Christmas Day would be here. When we return from Midnight Mass, that is when we would open the presents.

Christmas time is usually a time of relaxation and enjoyment (Not to mention all the merriment and Christmas Hype, ehh?). I learned long ago that Christmas isn't about the presents, but how you choose to spend Christmas with. I always have a good time with Christmas, and I wish to keep it that way for the rest of my life. :D

  5. Alright, I'll bite here. Why? What makes Sonic and Amy such a good match for each other? Where's the chemistry? The love? So far it just seems to be a one sided crush on Amy's part.

I think the writers of the Sonic games and Archie comics are "pulling a Naruto". As in, keeping the current relationship ambiguous as hell until the very last chapter.

  6. I think this topic has turned from "Can you help put SonAmy in a game?" to "What do you think of Sonic Parings in general?"

To which, I refer to ZigZaX and Jassbec's posts. :P

  7. I don't believe even a bad marth player would do better with Lucina. She's just weak. Hurts, but oh well.

Ironically enough, I have more fun playing as Lucina than Marth. Don't get me wrong, I think Marth is still a good player (As he is one of my mains), but I feel like Lucina plays a bit better because of her Sword Standardization (Is that even a real word?)

Because her sword got standardized, I feel as if Lucina feels "Fuller" than Marth.  I don't exactly know what words to put how Lucina feels. I DO know that Lucina feels different than Marth. She is definitely not weak, especially if you know how to control her.

By the way, my mains for Wii U and 3DS are ZS Samus, Samus, Marth/Lucina, Ike, Robin, Little Mac, Lucario, Shulk, Sonic... Ok, I think the word "Main" is excluded for me in these versions. :P

  8. It looks greatly improved over the original. In the last few seconds of the preview, you can see the city with textures.

I mean, yeah, it looks fantastic, I just hope that it takes place in different environments besides the city. What I got from the E3 trailer is everything that we have already seen before in the first game, only with prettier graphics.

Then again, the second game is a WAYS away from being released, so I could be talking too soon.

  9. I think a "sonic song" has to have a fast pace. Around 130 to 190 bpm, i'm not sure. But they usually consist of real instruments with electronic filters and small blips and bloops. Cyan City 1 has that electronic buildup and drop at the beginning. The middle has that arp. The second loop has an electronic drum that slowly builds up into a dnb style beat.

But for act 2? (I'm not really sure if you're talking about act 2 or 3 since you mixed it up a bit, so I'll get into that later)

Whoops. I'll edit that in. It IS act 3. My bad.

  10. Alright, a little context first.

Yesterday, when I headed to my 1st period (Which was Intermediate Band), I was still listening to my music. One of my friend-girls wanted to listen what I was listening to. I gave her one of my earbuds, and after immediately thought of "Sonic," even though I did not say what song it was.

Those songs were Acts 1 and 3 of Cyan City for Sonic: After the Sequel.

    Tea with Ellie (Act 1):

    Espresso with Bayonetta (Act 3):

Shout out to the people who made the game, the music, and those awesome names for the music. Anyways, I asked how did my friend-girl knew about how these songs were from Sonic, and she said "It just sounded like a Sonic song."

So my question is this: What qualifies as a "Sonic song"? More specifically, what would emulate the certain "Feel" when playing a Sonic game? Is it the instruments, or the atmosphere that the Sonic series always seem to have?

  11. I think the video would be much better without the gimmicky chat sections, but nonetheless, it makes good points.

Basically, Melee wasn't the game Massivehero Samurai intended it to be, so he "fixed" it.

And guess what? Melee still exists. The Metagame can still play melee, it still exists. Plus, look at Project M. Who's to stop them for doing the same with Sm4sh if they wanted?

Plus, why not adapt to the current game? I'm sure brawl and Sm4sh have some sort of crazy exploits the metagame haven't even bothered to discover, because they're still too busy arguing about Melee.

That video is quite interesting. So, Melee, with it's success, was a beautiful mistake. I can agree with what the guy is saying. I mean, I get that Sakurai only had a VERY short time to balance the game out, it was a surprise how good the game was, especially if it took 13 months to complete it.

Anyways, this is off topic to Mr. Potatobadger's reply, but who are people's mains so far?

    Mine are:

    • Robin
    • Sonic (Duh)
    • Zero Suit Samus
    • Lucina/Marth
  12. Played a few online matches and won just over half... the lag is quite harsh, just like it was in Brawl. Shame.

Really? My friend has the game, and he said that Online isn't laggy at all. Then again, Sakurai did say that you need to have a good connection to get the best out of Online for Smash 4.

  13. There was barely anything emergent about brawl as a videogame. There are alot of things I wanted Smash 4 to do to move away from that aspect of brawl, to give it that sense of emergence back. But by building itself off Brawl's base, it just seems mechanically impossible that it will happen, because brawl intentionally designed itself that way.

Meh, I can see what you mean, because I found it hard to pull off elaborate combos in Brawl than in Melee. I assume that in Project M, combos are really easy to pull off. But again, you cannot make your conclusion based off of the demo alone and not the full game itself. Seeing as the game released today, you can get the game and see if your opinion stays the same. If they did not, then I cannot say anything more to change your mind about Smash 4.

On a related note, those of you who are spending the next 1 1/2 days glued to their 3DSes are lucky, as I did not get my copy day one. I'm getting my copy on Sunday. At least it will give me time to do an essay for US History, but I digress. Those of you who have the game, what are your opinions on the new modes and new characters?
