  1. Wow, I am really impressed with this game. The graphics were absolutely awesome, I really like the custom Sonic sprite you guys were using in this too. I really liked the first level the best though...plus the story isn't too bad so far actually. It is quite nice and simple. What I really like too is the music in this game, it is really really good! I was debating about whether or not I wanted to try a time trial but I suck at the game so I would probably be at the bottom of the list xD. Good work on this.
  2. Alright, I tried your game and I found it to be quite fun. I thought the third stage in the demo was the least fun though, due to the badniks that were present in it primarily. It wasn't so much the guy who jumps out of the ground, but rather the mantis that shoots lasers (?) at you. Nine times out of ten I was getting hit by that when I didn't even know he was there, and if I tried jumping on him sometimes when he would turn to face the other direction his position would also shift...which meant that I missed him on a few occasions. I personally like the music, then again I like the Smashing Pumpkins (not a hardcore fan, but I do think they are good). The game ran quite smoothly for me too. The levels look nice and I really liked the Water level since it was really large and well designed in my opinion, I hope the rest of the levels in the final version of the game are as fun as that one =). There was a small problem I had though in that level, which is in the parts where you jump through a small gap to get into a little area that has ring boxes or an enemy or something in it (I would grab a screen but I don't remember how I got there and the demo is closed), but when trying to get out Sonic wouldn't jump through it until finally I backed up and ran to jump out, which on about the third try that worked. I'd widen that gap a bit if you know what parts I might be talking about. I liked Sonic CD, and I quite like your game too. The biggest let down for me as I said was the third zone, but that is mainly because of the enemies present.
  3. Ah, wups, I didn't even see that (I must be blind ). Anyway, I just requested a code =). Thanks!
  4. The beta demo link didn't work for me D:. But I tried the gamma =) I had some problems with the spindash, when I used it on occasion it'd send me through the air, rather than keeping me on the ground. The loops and some of the slopes need to be reduced so they are able to be gotten over like Overbound said, they are a little difficult =). The running speed is also especially slow to start getting up to the full speed, even then that isn't so fast. The spindash goes way too fast in comparison to the actual running speed in my opinion. Another thing you might want to take a look at is more on the graphical front, when your character goes into spindash mode he pretty much is hovering -over- the ground rather than spindashing on the ground, so when you get into the actual spindash it looks a little wierd since you are touching the surface again. Maybe there was an effect there that my computer just couldn't see since it is an ancient PoS Dell I got for free xD I, personally, have no problem with most fancharacters (I have a few of my own *shot*), so really I'm not going to pick at your character too much. What does bug me is he essentially plays just like Sonic would presumably play. If he had some unique gamestyle I'd probably be pretty okay with it, design not being taken into account. I'll agree that he is pretty much a green Sonic ^^; Sorry. Glad to hear some custom music though! I have to say that is what I liked the most about the demo because I always enjoy when people put the effort in to try and make their own custom music. I wish I had garageband too (I'm on a Windows machine D: ), just so I could make some good quality drums and put guitar over that for game soundtracks of my own. Anyway, umm, not too much to really comment on otherwise . I'd be glad to try out another demo once you get some more stuff done.
  5. Oh wow, this is a really cool looking website. I wouldn't mind checking it out just to see what sort of things the site contains
  6. If I had a working scanner I'd totally scan in some stuff, the most I have of pencil stuff is all older stuff I have. That'd mean putting all my old pictures back onto my DA page after I took off pretty much all my Sonic related stuff off of it. I have a tablet though, so really my sketches are quite close in terms of what I do with a pencil, though I can draw a few things much easier when I have a piece of paper in front of me rather than my monitor. I'm just wierd like that. Thanks! Glad you liked it =). I put up a new pic of Knuckles in my art topic too that I did not too long ago too if you want to check it or not (it is also in my avatar I guess, just not the full thing ). I'll work on getting some pencil stuff if I can get this scanner to work sometime soon.
  7. I was bored last night so I doodled this up for no apparent reason in MS Paint. I probably won't ever actually go over this and finish it properly, seeing as I hate the pose I chose for Shadow. I added in Sonic after because he is awesome.
  8. Oh wow, you are a really great artist O_O. I really like your overall style, as well as the shading you use. Really good work.
  9. Ah, thanks a lot =). I just need something to actually learn by, just so that if anything comes up I can at least say I tried to figure it out on my own first. I'm just not sure how to get the gliding, as well as the climbing (or how it would even work in the first place). Even if you just told me how to do it here on the forums so that I could learn how to put it in myself that'd be swell as well =D
  10. Okay, umm, first off I'm really sorry if I am violating any of the boards rules by doing this. I checked the rules and stuff, so hopefully this is in the right spot. If not could someone please move it ^^; Thanks in advance. Anyway, I'm trying to implement Knuckles into the Sonic worlds engine (because I honestly can't program at all, so I figured I'd use this engine to maybe learn), but I have no clue where to actually start. At first I tried to make Tails' fly actions work more like a glide, but I can't actually get them to replicate the actual feel of the gliding that Knuckles had. He turns too slowly and falls to fast etc...and it really isn't a proper glide considering I'm using the flying actions and all. Unless maybe I was on the right track and I didn't realize it heh. Would I have to create a new variable (or whatever the actions are called...I'm really sorry, I'm new to all this)? I know there are a couple on the main site that are Knuckles tutorials, but I'm not sure if any of them are good or not. So I was wondering if anybody has a good Knuckles tutorial for me to learn from, or could point me in the direction of one. I just want to see how his gliding and climbing all kind of works so I can try to put him into the engine myself and in the end learn how to do it so I know if I want to tweak it, I can tweak it myself without being a further bother. So yeah, if anyone knows of anything then please point me in the right direction =). I want to learn how to put him in properly so that I can start working on something possibly. Thanks! Edit: D'oh, I just saw that you can post help topics in the Sonic Worlds forum right now. I guess this would better fit there? My bad ^^;
  11. Not sure if I can double post here since I have something to update with ^^;. Anywho, I was bored and because I've got too much stress on my plate for the next few days to even have time to sit down and learn how to use MMF or Gamemaker yet, I was busy working on what the title artwork and HUD would theoretically look like if I actually did get around to making a game. This isn't me announcing a game though xD. I haven't learned how to use the programs really all that much yet. Anyway, it took me a while to put all this together today (the artwork was a pain to finish). The title version (the one with the ring) I had used the Sonic 1 title thingy as a guide, so that is the only part where I had major referencing. The rest is all my own. Hope you guys like it! Once again. Not announcing anything here (I'd be way in over my head if I was). I was just bored, and I need something to take my mind away from all the stuff I have to do this week.
  12. Wow, that is really cool! I'm taking 3D animation + Game design next year in college, I'm starting with traditional animation in a few weeks =P. Can't wait to see more 3D stuff!
  13. I don't know what game these are for, but they are really nice icons regardless! I like the shading and the outlines.
  14. Hell yeah. Next to Waste Of Mind that album is probably my fave. Their new album Phoenix is pretty good too actually, which I was surprised since I'm not a big fan of the new vocalist Matty. Besides, MFZB ended up becoming a slogan of sorts. I thought it was cool, so being quite unoriginal in my usernames I hijacked it.
  15. I don't know you, but happy birthday anyway =D!
  16. Thank you very much! I actually don't mind a lot of the music from the old THPS games, in fact it introduced me to Zebrahead (Check = Great song, in fact the entire album 'Waste Of Mind' was great). So I appreciate that comment quite a bit =). Now for those fake screens, I'll just post them not as links because they aren't too big. Keep in mind I was under a very limited timeframe to put these fake screens together and put it into a publication, as well as make another form of media for my fake product I was supposed to advertise. The spriting could be a bit better and less recycled on the quickly done floor tiles since I had only a small amount of time. These were done months ago before I graduated, I just never uploaded them until now heh. The HUD was quickly slapped together and the HP/Stamina options on it are pretty much temporary as well because I wasn't sure of a system for it. I have ideas on if I were to ever make this game jotted messily down somewhere, I think it'd run off a 3 hit system before you die, and you can pick up items in the level to give you another hit (think Ristar maybe). Either that, or more enemies you kill the more it fills up a tiny gauge that recharges a 'hit' when it is full. I dunno, it isn't like I've actually started making the game (I don't know how yet 8P) but it doesn't stop me from making concepts anyway xD. Anywho, sorry for rambling - here are the 'screenshots' =) Sunset Level Thing, Poorly scripted 'cutscene', and a robot boss that I do not know how it would even fit in there. Oh well, it was thrown together quickly. Arctic Level, enemy crab things that explode when attacked or something. If this level were to be real, I'd allow it that the slope would accelerate you because it'd be slippery (not so much that the entire level would be unplayable) and in which case you can use that acceleration possibly to launch off the ramp and onto that second platform if you were to time it right. Of course, these are fake screenshots and I just think too much about what 'could be' if I were to make this a reality. I think that'd be aiming a little too high though.
  17. Thanks for the compliment on the artwork! As for my recording gear: -Behringer Mixing Board -Sennheiser Microphone -A nice pair of Sennheiser headphones (my speakers suck, so without these I think I'd be messing up the quality big time) -Almost 8 year old Dell (D:!!!! It was passed down to me when the family got a new comp, so this one SUCKS. I don't have the money for a better PC yet) -Adobe Audition Guitar Gear: -Fender Strat -Line 6 Spider II Amp That is pretty much it. Through the output jack on my amp I wire it into my mixing board, which I then have a USB thing that came with it that I plug into my comp. I have to then take a couple audio cables and put one side in the CD Out portion on my board, then plug it into the USB device...and then take another audio cable and plug it from another part of the USB device into my speakers (so I can hear what I'm doing xD). So pretty much I can just plug everything into my mixing board instead of having to always switch the line in to each instrument which is what I had to do before. Recording drums is funny though, since I have to cover the bass drum with pillows and blankets so it doesn't overpower everything. My entire basement in my house is pretty much my room, so there is a lot of open space down here for sound to bounce around on which isn't really all that good for recording. The Bass drum used to always create so much noise, but now it doesn't as much. I also have to put my mic + stand up on my bed and boom it down a bit to get it to record okay. I haven't tried any other positions yet, but this one does the trick for now. Usually when recording drums you have one mic per piece usually, but I only have one mic heh. But yep, I'm pretty much a one mand band. I pretty much started recording music and stuff last year, but my gear was a lot different then. I had to use the line-in on my computer (which sucked because it only records in mono) and I used to use a 15 dollar PC microphone for recording vocals and drums. The quality was atrocious, but I had to make do with it . I want to start up a real band sometime soon, I have a couple friends that are just taking up instruments (one guitar, one bass) but what I really need more than anything is a drummer. Unfortunately I know none around here, so that really does suck. Putfile can be really bad sometimes. Chances are it was just down, they appear to be working for me right now =). Thank you for the compliments! I'll get right on uploading those fake screenshots. The HUD on there kind of is 'eh'. If I were to ever make the game I think I'd ditch the health and stamina bars I put in. Thank you !
  18. I'll just put it all into one topic because it'll be easier to manage this way! Anyway, I probably won't put up any of the old tracks I've made (from either last year, or earlier this year) because I recently got a behringer mixing board + a sennheiser mic for my birthday/graduation so I've been able to get some better quality out of my recordings and thus I can't stand any of my old stuff. If I do post any of my older stuff, it'd probably be this one step closer (by Linkin Park xD) cover I did to a drum backing track. Anyway, I've been working on writing my own material more than anything lately when it comes to music and while none of it is truly innovative, I'm just doing it all to have fun. I've had the drums for a year now, but due to people in the house not liking loud noise all that much (which makes me wonder WHY we got the drums) I've probably got little over a month in terms of how much I've actually been able to play them. So my drumming is quite bad haha. My vocals could use work too xD. Anyway, I play all the instruments in my music so I hope you guys enjoy these two tracks that I've worked on. If my computer wasn't so old I'd tweak them more and make them sound better...but it lags once I get near the final steps of making the song. Also, my solo project name is Mindtrip!. The name is taken from a Zebrahead song that I really enjoy from around 1998. Mindtrip - Get Up - this song is more punk-ish if you could call it that. Some levels are a bit off at times, I need to fix that one day. Mindtrip - The Ska Song - The name implies what genre I was trying for, the problem is I don't actually have trumpets...which I think would have really added to the song D: So that is about all I want to share for now I guess when it comes to musical stuff I've made for now. I plan on recording more stuff sometime soon, as I finish writing it. So now for some artwork...which I shall link to just in case =) MMZXA Fanart - Ashe (Model A) I did that because I was getting sick of drawing Sonic stuff all the time, in fact I pretty much purged a lot of my gallery of Sonic related stuff except for a few things. It was done on an Oekaki. Silver VS Sonic Another Oekaki, but this one is of something Sonic related. I threw a tiny Eggman in the background on that tiny island thing just for kicks. Knuckles Oekaki Another Oekaki, I don't have too many photoshopped Sonic pics kicking around much online anymore. Except maybe this one but this picture of Sonic was from something that I've pretty much scrapped by now. It was going to be a comic cover picture when everything was done, but I gave up heh. now for some old concept sketches for something I was going to work on a while ago, but then it kind of fell through since it was during the middle of the schoolyear and I had a lot of stuff to catch up on ^^;; Concept 1 - Main Character Concept 2 - Earth Boss Concept 3 - Fire Boss/Ally Concept 4 - Final Boss That is about as far as I went with those, I had another concept art for a sky/water boss thing - but it sucks so I won't post it. I am however working on a sprite sheet based on something that I made in class to be a 'mock video game' for a fake publication we had to make. I sprited out a couple scenes in Fireworks (since it had layers and was easy to work with...even if the program sucks, but it was all my school had xD). If you guys want me to post the fake screenshots I can always upload them, I put them on a USB drive. I guess that is all I will post for now . I hope you guys enjoy it!

    Hello!

    Haha, thanks! I'm used to sarcasm and arguments about nothing wherever I go on the net, but it's not like I have to take any of it seriously Thanks! I guess I'll go make a music topic now. I'll say it again, I'm a horrible drummer/vocalist xD. But that is why I try to improve with each thing I make...I don't necessarily confine myself to one style either. Songs I make usually go in the same general idea I guess, but if I were to look back at music I made last year compared to this year I've shifted my styles again. Thanks everyone for the welcome =). I think I'll enjoy it around here!

    Hello!

    Hey thanks guys for the warm welcome =). I'll definitely make a music/art topic at one point or another. I mainly do stuff around in the 'punk'/'ska' genres of music (if you want to get as close as you can with labels). I'm not a very good vocalist, or drummer however .

    Hello!

    Hi, I really suck at making introductions so this'll probably mostly be rambling. I'll also probably end up being a slow poster around here because when it comes to new communities, I'd much rather take my time then spam everywhere. Anyway, you can call me Ben. It isn't exactly my real name, but if I took out 4 out of the seven letters in my name that is what I get. So it could be a short form I guess. I play the guitar, drums (very poorly though), and do vocals - in other-words I am my own one man band and I do a few recordings here and there with some of the equipment I have. I also love to draw, I do most of my artwork in Photoshop but I do use other things (primarily paint for spriting, though I sometimes use photoshop for that too). An example of a piece of art I did over at an Oekaki board would be this: Some Sonic Oekaki picture I did, looks kinda like sprite art sorta. Linked it just in case people don't want to load a pic. I've taken a recent interest in fangaming, hopefully I'll learn how to use some good programs and learn the basics of how to actually make a game in them, possibly so I can move on and create something all my own. So right now I have pretty much very little knowledge when it comes to fangaming, so if I start asking stupid questions please feel free to give me stupid answers (or helpful ones despite the fact that it was a stupid question xD) because I'm sure I'll catch on quick. So that is about it I guess. Slingerland referred me here after I asked him on another forum about getting into the fangaming community. Thanks again for answering all my questions dude =). So um, hi! Edit: Also, if this is in the wrong place. My bad ^^;
