E3 2017 Recap So Far

E3, or the Electronic Entertainment Expo is underway for 2017. So far, we’ve had presentations from Electronic Arts, Xbox, and Bethesda, with PC gaming, Ubisoft, Sony, and Nintendo still on the way over the next few days.

Here’s the highlights of each presentation so far:

|Electronic Arts (EA)|:
Madden 18 (single-player story mode called Longshot, where you don’t play a single NFL game but instead play through a story-driven narrative.)

Battlefield 1 (In the Name of the Tsar DLC.)

A Way Out (A complete co-op experience based on a prison drama.)

Star Wars Battlefront 2 (We got to see a few minutes of multiplayer gameplay with Darth Maul and Rey both featured. They also announced all post-DLC would be free.)

Anthem (BioWare’s new IP is teased.)

|Xbox Conference| :

Xbox One X (The previously-named Project Scorpio was revealed. The system will be released on November 7th for $499. The Xbox One S was also price cut to $249.The system would take advantage of faster load times and better rendering techniques to make previous titles “look” better.)

Forza 7 (The Motorsport title was showcased to run in Native 4k and at 60 FPS.)

Metro Exodus (The game was shown using in-engine footage.)

Assassin’s Creed Origins (The game was shown, expressing the Egyptian origins of the Assassins.)

Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds (The PC title is coming exclusively to the Xbox platform.)

Deep Rock Galactic (The unique polygonal shooter was shown.)

State of Decay 2 (The zombie-drenched shooter was shown in it’s bloody glory.)

The Darwin Project (The arena ability-based shooter was shown with gameplay.)

Minecraft – Super-Dooper Graphics Pack (The world-builder was shown with an emphasis on connecting VR, PC, Consoles, and Mobile players with community creations.)

Dragon Ball FighterZ (The beloved franchise gets a classic 2.5 fighter game from the makers of BlazBlue.)

Black Desert (The PC MMO makes it way to the Xbox console.) 

The Last Night (The game’s graphical engine was very interesting, being retro pixel-based.)

The Artful Escape (The title was shown to be a platformer with musical elements.)

Code Vein (A hack-n-slash that blends an anime art style with Dark Souls-esque gameplay.)

Sea of Thieves (The Pirate-based game had some extensive gameplay shown, in-engine.)

Tacoma (The game appears to be a space-station simulator.)

Super Lucky’s Tale (A platformer starring a young fox.)

Cuphead (The retro-cartoon inspired title was given a release date.)

Crackdown 3 (Gameplay was shown, as well as a release date given.)

Several Indie games were shown as part of the ID@Xbox program.

Ashen (a graphically interesting action game with some hints of gothic undertones.)

Life is Strange: Before the Storm (An episodic game from Square-Enix.)

Middle-Earth: Shadow of War (The LOTR series had gameplay shown.)

Ori and the Will of the Wisps (The sequel to Ori and the Blind Forest.)

Original Xbox Games will be making an appearance as backwards compatible games, starting with Crimson Skies.

Anthem (The BioWar/EA title is shown with gameplay.)

|Bethesda Conference|:

Fallout 4 VR (The Fallout 4 game was given the VR treatment, as well as a release date.)

Doom VR (This one wasn’t.)

The Creation Club (This would be a reboot into putting paid mods back into Bethesda games.)

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – Switch Edition (We got to see more of the game and some amiibo support, unleashing a Nordic Link as the Dragon Born.)

Dishonored: Death of the Outsider (A standalone adventure starring Billie Lurk.)

The Evil Within 2 ( The sequel to the first game, being released on Friday the 13th, in October. Great marketing, eh?)

Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus (The sequel retains a lot of the original cast and was shown with some gameplay.)
