UPDATE: Sonic Mania Confirmed for Nintendo Switch Release with Multiplayer

It seems to be mostly the same trailer we’ve seen before, appearing to only have slight gameplay differences, however with the Nintendo Switch logo placed at the end of the trailer. ORIGINAL STORY: Following Nintendo’s Nintendo Switch presentation, their website went live with updated information for the console, and new games being supported. Looking at the website further, Sonic Mania is listed to release for the Switch.
The game’s description reads:

Sonic Mania brings fans back into the 2D world of platform games with nostalgic pixel-style art and core “classic” gameplay by reimagining iconic Zones and Acts from Sonic The Hedgehog, Sonic The Hedgehog 2, Sonic CD and Sonic The Hedgehog 3 and Knuckles, and adding in completely new Zones with all-new Acts and boss fights into the mix.
Features:
- A true, classic Sonic experience in gorgeous pixel graphics featuring a variety of new Zones with iconic favorites from Sonic 1, 2, 3 and CD!
- Playable characters include: Sonic, Tails, & Knuckles

In addition to the confirmation of being on a new console, Sonic Mania is also listed to have multiplayer gameplay, supporting “2 players simultaneous.”
