  1. Figured I'd make this topic for discussing the Nintendo Switch and its games! As for my thoughts on the Switch, it looks great, but I sadly don't own one, nor have I ever used one before. The games for it that interest me the most are Super Mario Odyssey and Breath of the Wild, though that should be no surprise. Of course, there are many other awesome looking games for the Switch, AAA and indie alike. My thoughts on Nintendo taking down fan content aside, I would say Nintendo has learned from the Wii U, and I can see the Switch being a very successful console (which it already sort of is so far). Still, feel free to leave your thoughts on this, or discuss anything Switch-related.
  2. Logo Credit to Jassbec --- Outshaft is a 3d Platformer RPG created by Cloud 9 Entertainment. Inspired by popular JRPG series such as Paper Mario and MOTHER, Outshaft strives to give you an experience reminiscent of such timeless RPGs. The game focuses on the insecure Alex Ander, the son of a famous inventor who sets out to find the “World Prisms”, eight mystical objects that act as a reset button for the world so he can successfully go back and prevent the events that lead to his father’s death and keep the world from plunging into calamity. On his way, he meets new friends and foes, discovers new worlds and uncovers hidden secrets about the world he thought he knew. Alex Ander and his friends will be traveling around the world of Outshaft in more ways than one. When not exploring the world around them on foot, they will be using several forms of transportation, ranging from taxi cabs to the Monorail train system and to Ander family’s airship base, the Icarus. With a range of environments, from the urban Cityburg, to the wilds of the Cudashudawuda Forest, and across the ocean to other continents like the notorious Muskhena, Alex will be travelling constantly and will make use of any form of travel he can get. -Screenshots -Character Bios -Sprites -Concepts
  3. Mario Kart 8 came out a few days ago. It has received very good reviews. I've been playing it since release day. I'd say it's the best Mario Kart game so far. It's miles better than the past few instalments in the series. The gameplay is a lot faster, more balanced, and overall more enjoyable. The game also looks stunning in HD and is full of detail. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ibVJr7tpvQ4 Discuss everything related to Mario Kart 8 here.
  4. (EDIT: Mods, please move this to the proper forum. I done goofed.) Hey guys! So recently I've been working on some new projects, one mainly being a game based off of the Nintendo RPGs. The problem is, we have insufficient people working on the team! We need spriters for the characters and objects, 3d modelers for the landscapes and some people to help with concepts/ideas. Another requirement is that you have a Skype, as that is our main method of communication. If interested, send me a PM! PLOT: In the distant future, on the planet known as Terra, the once-popular scientist and public figure, Dr. M, has passed the peak of his popularity. As he continues to age, his younger competitor, Samuel Ander, is slowly becoming what he used to be. As time passes, Dr. M formulates an elaborate revenge plot that will not only get Samuel Ander out of the way, but grant him control of the entire world. In the town of Cityburg, shortly after Samuel Ander is awarded a prize from the mayor, he receives a call during dinner asking him to come to the Invention Expo north of Republia [America] in Maplend [Canada]. He accepts the offer, and says goodbye to his wife Margaret, brother Wally, and his son Alex Ander before leaving. After his departure, an earthquake strikes Cityburg and several other places around the world- including the Invention Expo. After Alex discovers a clue that the earthquake's origin was not natural, he goes to find out the truth about his father and the evil forces of Dr. M's power, including the once-abused manchild Glitch, the entire military of the terrorism-stricken country of Muskhena [Russia], and more with the help of Cardi, an anthromorphic cardinal with an overflowing personality, Mallory, a nine-year-old girl with a liking for fire, and Doyle, the heir of the throne for Regalis [England], the archenemy of the country of Muskhena. Some random stuff we have: Some sprites of ours. A beta drawing/concept of the main character's hometown. Two concepts of some of the characters from the game.
  5. Seeing as a lot of the members here seem to be of the younger generation (Gen Y mostly, it seems) I'm wondering how many here are Mario fans? I'm not. I grew up during the time when you were either a Sega man or a Nintendo man and you would wear your allegiance on your sleeve. School yard arguments, little sledges of "I bet your SNES can't do this," when showing off Sonic 2 to a Nintendo loving mate. Basically, "Sega does what NintenDON'T," is tattooed on my heart. In the intervening years I've softened somewhat. I actually own a 3DS and a DS. If you'd told a 13 year old me that I'd own a Nintendo console one day you'd probably get a barrage of abuse. Although I really do love my Ds-s, and some Nintendo franchises such as Pokemon, Zelda, Donkey Kong and Kid Icarus, I just can NOT bring myself to love Mario. But it's not just a result of him being Sonic's rival back in the day. I've played the games (admittedly the last one I played was New Super Mario Bros on DS) and I just don't enjoy them. I find them tedious and dull. However, younger gamers don't seem to have this issue. They started playing when that great war was over and the new war lord, Sony, had appeared on the screen. Nintendo is now to Sony what Sega used to be to Nintendo. It's very different. So, I'm interested, younger Sonic fans, do you consider yourself a fan of Mario as well? Does the old battles between the two even enter your mind? Is it something that even occurs to you, is it even on your radar or is it simply something old men, rocking on their porches loving holding the worn shell of their Mega Drives, mumble about to anyone who will listen?
  6. http://sonicunited.org/2013/05/17/sonic-lost-world-officially-revealed-plus-partnership-and-new-mario-sonic-title/ I am unsure if I'll be picking this up. I have never been a fan of the Mario & Sonic sports series, but judging by the screenshots this game seems to have had quite some effort put into it. What's your thoughts on the new Mario & Sonic sports title?
  7. Sonic Adventure was Sonic's big step into 3D. It was released in 1998, at the time receiving critical acclaim and selling millions. In 2003 an updated version was released which introduced more new problems than it fixed. It was met with a mixed reception. It sold pretty well regardless. Sonic Adventure is 14 years old. It has had numerous ports and rereleases. How well do you think it holds up today? I personally believe it has aged decently. Not great, but not bad either. Graphically it still looks pretty good. Gameplay-wise however, its flaws are a lot more apparent than they used to be. The controls are quite twitchy. The game has a good idea of how Sonic should control in 3D, but I do not believe they pulled it off too well. Story-wise, it's still good in my eyes. I still find myself going back to the game a couple of times per year. I'd like to hear your opinion on the subject.
  8. http://sonicredux.com/2013/06/22/sonic-blast-and-tails-adventure-now-on-3ds-eshop/ Will anyone be purchasing these? I'm interested. Though I already have access to them via disc collections from the past generation.
