  1. Over the years, many of us got to see the likes of the Nintendo 3DS. For the first couple of months, it became one of Nintendo's biggest flops alongside the Virtual Boy (Remember that piece of garbage?). Then massive sparks of innovative games easily made the 3DS the go-to handheld when it comes to games. Immediately 1 year (and a few months) after the launch of the original 3DS, was the launch of the 3DS XL. There's not much to discuss about this one, seeing as the only thing to discuss is the larger battery size, memory size, and bigger screens. Sometime down the road, while Nintendo is rolling in the cash gained from the games for the 3DS, they rolled out with the 2DS: The kid-friendly alternative to the 3DS. It's not fold-able, doesn't have 3D, and all at a cheaper price. It can be considered the Kid of the 3DS family. All of that comes down to today. During one of Japan's Nintendo Directs today, they were discussing about new info about certain stuff. One of the info was that Shulk is going to be playable in Smash 4. Shulk: Ey, guys! Didn't expect to see me, did you? What? You did? Oh. And then they unveiled the newest member to the 3DS family: The New Nintendo 3DS and New Nintendo 3DS XL! The New 3DS and New 3DS XL has a C-Stick (Reminiscent of the Gamecube's C-Stick), 2 second shoulder buttons (Also like the z button acting as a second shoulder button on the Gamecube Controller!), and best of all, has colorful buttons (ALSO like the Gamecube controller!) Satoru Iwata stated that this New 3DSes would support better CPUS so that existing games and future games would perform better. Also, it would sport games that would be exclusively on the New 3DS, and one of the exclusives is a port of Xenoblade Chronicles. Both models would release on October of this year in Japan. So tell me guys, what are your thoughts on this new (No pun intended, I swear) piece of hardware? I am honestly curious. Since many people had opinions on the Status Update section, I figured this needed a proper Forum Topic!
  2. So if you've already heard of this or already downloaded it, you know exactly what I'm talking about and why I'm gettin' 8-bit high. http://www.nintendo.com/games/detail/Qzrx0I77wUPWpBDRdNH3ILGVbMK5173W The game is pretty much Grand Theft Auto only NES-erized and loaded with 80s and 90s video game references and pop culture. It parodies classic titles, as well as obscure ones and pokes fun at the retro ages. For example: Metal Gear's localization to the US on NES and how the text wasn't properly translated is referenced here, and it's friggin' hilarious. It even features pop culture like Super Meat Boy, Epic Meal Time, Trailer Park Boys, and sooo much more. If you got 10 bucks to spare and feel like having some retro good time, I suggest this lil' download title.
  3. M2's 3D Sonic the Hedgehog just came out on the eShop for the 3DS today here in America. I think the 3D looks really neat with this one, it runs really well and you can access the stage select right from the bat with the "Special" option, which is handy. The spindash works great and I haven't experienced any slowdown yet, even with the 3D on. I know there's a million Sonic 1 ports + Taxman's version but I think this one is worth grabbing as well. M2 announced a second line of SEGA 3D Classics that they are now working on, I'm certain Sonic 2 will be one of them, so we can probably look forward to that.
  4. Critic reviews for Sonic Lost World are out. It looks like it's not doing so well. Mixed reception. Metacritic Database IGN: 5.8/10 Gamespot: 5/10 Gamesradar: 4/5 Eurogamer: 4/10 Joystiq: 2.5/5 Gametrailers: 7.6/10
  5. Keep all discussion on spoilers for Sonic Lost World in this thread. There is no need to use spoiler tags in this thread. Footage of the first half hour of Sonic Lost World has been leaked onto the internet. You may watch it here:
  6. Sonic Lost World has introduced a brand new art style. It's fairly simple and uses a lot of flat colours, allowing the game to run at 60fps. There has been a lot of controversy regarding the new art style change. What's your thoughts on the subject? I prefer a more grounded, detailed, somewhat realistic art style, but with whacky concepts. Sonic Colours on the Wii nailed it in my opinion. Sonic Lost World still looks pretty good, and the game running at 60fps is pretty nice, but I do prefer the older art style.
