  1. It all depends on that one multiplat Sonic 15. If it fails, Sonic will finally collapse and soon SEGA will rot from the loss of it's final support. If it succeeds, then I honestly don't know or care what comes next.
  2. I've been getting into Sonic Robo Blast 2, and I have a question to ask. How do you save the game with a character .WAD? When I play as an added character, the game does not save even if I play as a default character. What is happening? I am choosing a file to save in rather than using the "no save" option.
  3. This game is one of the first I ever put on my detachable USB hard drive. I have plenty of levels for it. I like how this is basically the solution to SegaSonic's current problems. My favorite pair is Sonic and Blaze.
  4. Will there be non-Robotnik bosses, like Scratch and Grounder, Metal Sonic, Nagus, etc? Will there be NPCs you can talk to?
  5. Since ST itself announced this unlike the Hardlight apps, maybe this is a normal 2D Sonic for mobile devices?
  6. I have an idea for future Sonic games: have EX versions of characters that play like how they did in prior games. Kinda like in the King of Fighters series, with EX Terry playing like his classic Real Bout Fatal Fury version and whatnot. For example, if the next game is again Lost World-styled, we could have a more Unleashed Trilogy-type Sonic (or even Adventure, Classic, or Boom Sonic) as an EX version. Amy would do especially well, with those who like her Advance style being able to chose one while those who had a more Sonic-ish gameplay in mind could choose another. I had considered doing this with the Virtual Hedgehogs from the Sonic Simulator, but discarded it as it would be too much of a tease.
  7. When I defeat the big crab robot as Bingo, the level doesn't end. Instead, I keep hearing the explosion sounds in a loop. What's wrong?
  8. You said you'd have a tech demo by the holidays. I'm still waiting for it. I really want to see more progress. Have you finished that FFT game?
  9. I wonder if we'll ever get any more information about these guys. I'm likely going to use Venice in some works of mine.
  10. There are also a ton of characters who were scrapped, but not given proper names. These include: * I've heard a panda was considered sometime after S3&K. Perhaps meant for Knuckles Chaotix or X-Treme? Or maybe one of the Tails games? * I've heard Sonic Adventure 2 had a lot of weird new characters in concept art, like this Angel girl, a troll, and some creature made of eyes.
  11. Last night, I came up with a detailed theory that explains several things in the Sonic and Mega Man universes. Fiona Fox is the cornerstone of the theory, combined with KH universe logic, thus making things like Street Fighter X Mega Man make more sense. First things first: After his defeat, Scourge feared Fiona would return to Sonic's side. So, he enlisted a pack of Heartless, whom he had made a deal with, to come after her and destroy her. Fiona's heartbreak allowed the Heartless to triumph over her, but her strong will left a Nobody behind. Marluxia discovered this mere Dusk on a jog through Twilight Town, and felt that it had potential. He took it to his lab and converted it into its old form, a form similar to that taken by the Org XIII themselves. Now named Onixfa, this Nobody was returned to her host world. Onixfa's first action was to recruit some of her old allies to form the Destructix again. While she would resist consuming their hearts, she did desire Tails's heart in order to see him again. While she was defeated, her mind was set on getting revenge on Scourge. Scourge, in amazement that she was still alive, dumped her to save his life. Things didn't really change until the Super Genesis Wave. In the fused world of Mega Man and Sonic, Onixfa was manipulating a group of Sonic characters who didn't get Roboticized behind the scenes in an attempt to create her own Organization XIII. Her attempt failed when Big was Roboticized (he was never cured until the Super Genesis Wave changed both worlds back) and she was captured and placed in Willy's lair for study. When the Super Genesis Wave fixed things (but destroyed 99% of Sonic's world), Onixfa was left behind in the Mega Man universe. Now, what about her Heartless? Well, the Stolen Vixen crawled through the Cosmic Interstate until it popped up in the Sonic the Comic universe. It managed to attack and consume the native Rouge's heart. The Stolen Vixen temporarily took the place of the native Rouge until the Super Genesis Wave, where it was sent to the Mega Man universe and Rouge's own Heartless took its place. Upon its arrival in the Mega Man universe, the Stolen Vixen encountered Onixfa. Feeling a bond to it, Onixfa decided to enlist it to attack intruders. And oh boy, did those intruders come! A group of Street Fighter characters appeared in the Mega Man universe. They were all immediatley attacked and turned into Heartless. Fearing these Heartless, Dr. Light asked for help. Help arrived in the form of Ansem, who managed to edit the Cure Shot so that it would target Heartless rather than Robians. Mega Man was then assigned to cure all of the Heartless Street Fighters, but Onixfa still lies in wait for him...
  12. I've been fascinated by just how the Mobians seem to work similarly and live in comparative harmony, despite being so biologically different in species. For example, two species that are traditionally predator and prey can be best pals (Tails and Sonic) or even lovebirds (Fiona and Scourge). This can be justified by the nature of Mobians being civilized, but what about interspecies romance creating successful children across superorders (Sonic and Sally), how arthropod Mobians can speak as well as the vertebrates do, and the fact a housecat can be the size of a crocodile? To solve all of that, I have created this topic on Mobian anatomy. "It's just a game about a blue hedgehog and a talking egg." That line of thinking gave us shit like Lost Mind. I have grown attached to the characters. I do want to learn more about them and their anatomy. Let's start: In the Archie Comic, the Xorda were the catalysts for the divergence of Mobians from normal animals using Gene Bombs to irradiate the Earth and take out a good chunk of mankind. These had an unintended side-effect of hastening the evolution of the animals into Mobians. Ostensibly, species that were already intelligent were the first to evolve Mobianess. Homonids were probably the first to jump on the Mobian bandwagon, followed quickly by cetaceans, and then elephants, followed shortly by the rest of the mammals. Birds evolved a while after, then the reptiles, then amphibians, then fish, and lastly the basal chordates. Invertebrates took a longer time to evolve, and they are still quite different from vertebrate Mobians. With the invertebrates, the arthropods evolved with the cartilaginous fish, echinoderms evolved with the basal vertebrates, annelids followed all of the vertebrate groups, and the rest evolved more recently. Mobians can come from any type of animal, though vertebrates are by far the most frequent. Their communities are generally organized by the types of animal living there. Mammal-dominated communes, like Furville, are common, and some mammal Mobians live alongside humans in cities. Mobotropolis is an exception, with it being home to all manner of species. If they can take so many appearances, why are they all one species? The answer is: they aren't. Well, not exactly. Long ago, Mobians split off into the Mobians and the more animal-like Mobini. Mobini were once abundant, but are now rather rare and live only in isolated populations. Also, vertebrate and invertebrate Mobians are considered a separate species. And now onto the skeletal anatomy. The skeleton of the Mobian is overall quite similar to that of a human, but the individual parts tend to be very different, depending on the species. Let's start from the top with the skull. Skulls are one of the tell-tale signs to the species of a Mobian. Eye sockets almost always face forward except on some of the most primitive species and certain isolated populations. Nasal bones are very similar to those of the human, though in turtles they are reduced, and in fish, they bulge outward. The teeth and jaws are another story, however. Teeth are very different across Mobian varieties. Some have long, pointed canines, and others have prominent-ever growing incisors. With a ruminant, like say, Clove, they retain the dental pad of their ancestors, however greatly reduced to make room for the new upper teeth. Tusked species have smaller tusks than their normal counterparts. And then there's the problem of species without teeth. Many species without teeth are incapable of speaking human languages, especially invertebrates. Thus, they have created their own languages instead. Many insect Mobians have languages based around the buzzing of their wings, which are easily understood cross-species. The most common of these is Buubbbzzu. This language can also be understood by other species if they take the time to learn it. The hand is another interesting feature. In birds, the carpometacarpus takes up most of the hand, leading to oval shaped hands with smaller digits. Pig hands were the easiest transition amongst artiodactls. So, what did you think?
  13. Yeah, the skeletal hedgehog boss would have been a badass fight. You even knew about Speedy and Boomer? Should I post a collection of fan-art of these rejects?
  14. Let's discuss the many characters SEGA developed for the Sonic series but never used. You probably all know Tiara B. (who IS in Sonic World) and Honey (and her sister/clone "Candy"), but there are a number of other, more obscure scrapped characters lurking around. THE SONIC BAND The Sonic Band consisted of Max, Mach, and Sharps, along with Sonic and Vector. They were meant as a sound test visual, as well as being in the ending and the intro. The lost three have appeared in the Archie Comic as of late. MADONNA Madonna was an obvious parody of the real Madonna and meant to be Sonic's love interest before she was scrapped in favor of Amy. GAZEBO/KING CYBERBOOSKI Tiara's pops. Not much else needs to be said. VENICE THE MINK A Silver prototype, rumors abound about this fellow. Some say he was meant to be part of his own IP, others claim he was going to die. CHAZ AND GABBY Two more characters proposed for Sonic X-Treme. What were they? Playable? Bosses? Comic relief? (I'd assume the latter) Their sprites were left in the prototype rom and released to the internet. EDIT: Senn was using them for testing purposes, and they were part of an unrelated project that never came to be. MECHA SONIC I, II III, IV, AND V These five were Mecha Sonic models proposed for Sonic X-Treme. They were lost with the death of the game. SPEEDY THE PORCUPINE AND BOOMER THE TURTLE Now we're getting into the real unknowns. These two were only pointed out in a UK magazine special edition (Gamemaster?) as prospects for Sonic's sidekick. We don't even have a visual reference for them. Boomer was said to be a "rocket-powered" turtle (likely wearing rocket skates). SISTER SONIC Sister Sonic was to be the starlet of a Popful Mail localization named after her. This localization was cancelled, and Sister Sonic never saw the light of day. SONIC JR He was to star in a Sega Pico game. Whether he was Sonic's son or just a younger Sonic is unknown. WHITE VOID GUY This guy showed up in an early Sonic 1 panorama, looming down on Sonic. TALKING CLOCK This clock shows up in the files of Sonic's Schoolhouse, and does exactly what Sonic does. SKELETAL HEDGEHOG ONI Sonic 2's Genocide City zone would have apparently had a hedgehog with a flaming skull as a boss, according to a Sonic Advance 2 guide. TEIROS Shadow's (real-world) prototype would have been the final boss of Sonic Adventure 2. DISEMBODIED TREADS This pair of treads exists in Sonic the Fighters as a character, but we don't know what they were supposed to be. MORE X-TREME BOSSES X-Treme was to have a number of animal-themed mecha bosses with names like Darkpool Gorilla, Mecha Mite, Emerald Cat, Flame Falcon, and Guardian Sphinx Any I missed? As mentioned above, I omitted Honey and Tiara because they're talked about way too much. I also didn't include characters with bigger planned roles than what we got, like Rocket Metal and Perci. Or the prototype Sonic concepts from the early days of Sonic 1 development. Or characters from other media planned to jump to the games. Or the metric ton of scrapped Badniks.
